Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I'm filing a report on the bike. Bike was in a bike room which a person needed a key to get into the building, into the bike room, then cutters to cut the lock which went through the frame, front wheel and a metal bar 1/2 foot from ceiling in concrete. I've filed with the building as well. Bike was locked in room on 4/4/11 and today 5/23/11 I went back to prepare it for the summer. Gone. I have the coiled lock which they left and will give that to the police as well. The bike is yellow and black. Hope this helps me finding it or makes it more uncomfortable for the slacker who stole it.

We had repeated recent thefts in our parking structure. Allegedly a male and a female would come into our garage, cut the cables and ride off.

The image attached is what the bike looks like, but the wheels are different. They have thick, bladed spokes. I pulled this screenshot from Craiglist because I don't have any other images of my bike.

It was locked with a krypotnite ulock and cable. Was told by panhandler that an older white man cut the cable and stole the bike around 5:30 pm on Monday 5/16. Locked there the morning of the 16th. It was only there about 8 hours. Was locked one block east of LA Fitness on 55 E Randolph. I go there to work out in the morning and the bike rack is just across the street to the east.

This bike was stolen along with my girlfriend's Trek Hybrid bike sometime during the workday. The garages were all closed... and we believe this may have been the work of someone who got their hands on building keys, or possibly an ex-tenant. We do not have a serial number or photo for her bike. I have my serial number, but no photo as I just purchased the bike 5 days prior and had not even installed my accessories yet. This is the second bike I have had stolen out of this garage; however, the last one was left out in the open in the garage. Very possibly someone is scouting our neighborhood for bikes.

My neighbor left the garage open, and the bike was stolen in the time he was gone to the grocery store. Nothing else was touched or taken, including three other bikes.

Bike was locked at the Rogers Park Metra stop using a cable and pad lock. Bike was stolen between 8:20am and 5:59pm (the times of the Metra train into and out of Chicago).

I noticed that my bike was missing on Monday May 16. It had been in my garage with no lock. The garage door showed no damage. The likeliest time that it was taken was when I took the trash out on Friday May 13 around 2 pm. My garage is on the side of my house in an alley (the garage door is very close to and is visible from Byron St). The trash cans are on the back of the house. I left the garage door open while I went around the corner to take out the trash and it took longer than expected to take the trash out. The garage door was open, with no car parked inside, for about 5-10 minutes out of my sight.

according to the condo board president, several bikes and two cars were taken from the access-restricted parking garage at the condo building. my bike was literally in a very visible location, right by an elevator door and i figured that would help protect it, being in plain sight. apparently not.

Bike left in front of the grocery store in plain site of parking lot and of people in store. Stolen within three minutes.

Thieves walked into garage when door was open as car left garage. Seen on video camera.

It was locked to deck post in the back enclosed area of the building. It had been parked there since Friday night. I saw it was still there on Sunday afternoon. I discovered it missing this morning when I went to ride to work. Someone must have hopped the locked gate, saw the bike, cut the lock, and removed the bike from the gated area.

Bike was locked to 4th floor stairwell railing inside our locked apartment complex. Cut cable and took my 10 year old bike, but left my wife's brand new bike. Walked past other bikes on lower floors. Left cut lock/cable at scene.

Bike was locked up in garage.

Must have been stolen overnight- the pole was unscrewed and dismantled from its base, bike removed (with lock on it), and the pole was replaced (screw bolt was laying on the ground). Happened right on Briar Place, in front of New Tokyo sushi restaurant.

The bike was locked to a street sign for the entire day. I saw it at 8 then when I came back out at 9 it was gone.

I locked my bike to the bike rack in front of the N Southport Jewel Osco. I was in the store less than 10 minutes and when I went back outside, the bike was gone. I walked around the area and asked anyone who may have seen the incident or the person on my bike. I think someone saw me locking my bike up and walked up as soon as I left and broke the lock. They would have had to have been there or nearby when I walked into the store because I was in and out so quickly. I got a lot of compliments in the TWO DAYS (yes, two days) I had the bike. It was/is bright and noticeable. It was very difficult to find and I think someone else felt that they needed it more than I do.
