Bike was not visible from nearest street. People that park near this path to the lake shore do not have a Lake Bluff village sticker and are trying to avoid paying to get down to the beach and parking illegally. Incident Description:
I parked my new bike at a public bike rack at the SW corner of North and Wells, a very busy and crowded intersection even at night time, with a 24-hrs Starbucks, a 24-hrs Walgreens, a McDonalds and a Boston Market at the four corners. At approximately 00:30am at night (Friday night/Saturday morning), I locked my bike with a key cable lock, wrapping through both wheels and the bike frame to the rack, and went into the 24-hrs Starbucks. When I returned after 10 mins, the bike as well as the lock were gone. There were a lot of other bikes parking in that area and around the intersection, some of which are a lot nicer than my bike. I did see a few people "hanging out" at the intersection; but, again, it is a very crowded and busy place, with a lot of pairs of eyes watching.
