Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was on patio, through gated/locked fence of apartment building.

Noticed through garage window that the overhead garage door appeared to be open, though it had not been just a few minutes before. By the time we got to the garage, the garage door light was still on, meaning the door had not been open long, but the bike was gone. Nothing else was missing. The thief somehow got our overhead garage door open, and then probably rode away on the bike.

I walked out after work and my bike was gone. I asked the Manager at Au Bon Pain if he saw anything. He asked what time I parked it there. I told him 8:45am ish. He said he got to work at 9:30am and when he walked up there were no bikes locked to the bike rack. When I locked mine there was a bike on the other side of the rack. Someone could have been watching me for a few days and realized when to take it.

Bike was stored on bike room at residence, lock was cut and left there. The buillding is claiming they are not responsible and security cam was not hooked so apparently there is no way to find out when was it stollen exactly. The bike has been stored there for over a year and a half even though the bike is about 3 years old it has less than 60 miles so it looks brand new. Unfortunately I don't have the serial number saved so even though we did file a police report they said there is not much of a point to it. I hope I get lucky and someone sees it. Thanks everyone!

Bike was left hidden in bushes along the wooded ravine path to the shore of Lake Michigan just East of the intersection of Maple and North roads. Several young people, aged ~16-25, were seen leaving the Lake front walking up the path, presumably returning to their parked car at the top of the ravine path. Bike was not visible from nearest street. People that park near this path to the lake shore do not have a Lake Bluff village sticker and are trying to avoid paying to get down to the beach and parking illegally. Someone leaving the lake front probably picked the bike out of the bushes on their way up to their car and drove off with it.

Left the bike before going to work, came out at lunch and it was gone. Bike was locked with a U-lock around tire and frame. Front tire was left with the lock

I parked my new bike at a public bike rack at the SW corner of North and Wells, a very busy and crowded intersection even at night time, with a 24-hrs Starbucks, a 24-hrs Walgreens, a McDonalds and a Boston Market at the four corners. At approximately 00:30am at night (Friday night/Saturday morning), I locked my bike with a key cable lock, wrapping through both wheels and the bike frame to the rack, and went into the 24-hrs Starbucks. When I returned after 10 mins, the bike as well as the lock were gone. There were a lot of other bikes parking in that area and around the intersection, some of which are a lot nicer than my bike. I did see a few people "hanging out" at the intersection; but, again, it is a very crowded and busy place, with a lot of pairs of eyes watching.

My bike was locked out side to a bike rack by the Goose Island Brewpub on Clyborn for about two hours from 7:30PM to 9:30PM. I came out and the lock and bike were gone.

I had just picked my bike up from the shop having a stolen wheel replaced, so the bike was in the back of my car. I was visiting a friend in Logan square on the 2300 block of N. Kedzie (close to the intersection of Kedzie and Fullerton. I had forgotten my lock, so left the bike in my trunk. When I returned to my car, the window had been smashed and my bike was gone. I have only one picture of me and my bike, but unfortunately it does not provide a great look at the bike itself, so the attached image is the exact bike I had, but not my bike. This is a very rare model bike, so it is easily identifiable.

Bike was stolen from Northwestern's downtown campus, outside of 645 N. Michigan. This is a building that faces Erie, with a doorman. I was in an all day meeting, bike was last seen at 10:45am. Bike was gone by 5pm. I had a Ulock, but out of ignorance I neglected to put the U-lock around the tube of the bike - I only had the cable around the tube. The cable was cut, the bike gone, and the u-lock on the ground. i really can't believe I made such a mistake. I bought this bike from my brother and never registered it so I'm trying to get the serial number from him.

Bike was out on the back porch for a couple of days temporarily. Lock was just cut and left at scene. I checked local pawn shops and used bike stores, but didn't see it. Fairly noticeable with it's faded from pinkish orange coloring. Porch was on the second floor facing the alley.

Rode the bike to the Ray Myer fitness center at 2:00 pm and after my workout an hour later the bike was gone from the rack that it had been locked to.

The bike was left at the side of the house by a 9 year old boy who loved it. The whole family was home, and in the back yard. It was stolen in broad daylight from under our noses.

Was placed in our basement which is accessable from the backyard after returning from vacation. Was unlocked for about 5-6 hours and was stolen. 2 other Bikes remained.

Stopped in to Starbucks around 11am, was not gone more than 5 or 10 minutes with the bike remaining in view most of that time. Went to leave store, bike was gone. The end.

While inside my apartment the thief walked from the alley in between two buildings up the back stairs onto the 2nd floor deck to and took the bike. I do have a video of the thief with a clear picture that could be used to identify the culprit. I really hope I find this bike.. any help would be appreciated!

Think thief used freon to freeze off lock. Got wife's bike too.

Think someone froze locks and stole the bike. Got my husband's too.

The bike was sitting in a friend's back yard as we prepared it for a BBQ. They went inside to shower and get ready, I was setting up the rooftop deck, and came back down to the yard half an hour later to find the gate open and the bike gone.
