Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

This bike was stolen from a storage room in the basement of my apartment. Both doors lock, although apparently there have been a rash of thefts in the same type of rooms lately in the area. The bike was locked to a washtub with metal framework. I hate people sometimes.

This bike was found in my carport on the morning of 8October2008. It is a red Magna Outreach that appears to have been built April 5 1999 (according to the stamp on the crank housing). If it sounds like your bike, email me the serial number and/or a description of the bike. I left for work on the train last Monday, and when I came back my bike was missing. Also, my lock was gone. The theft could have happened at any time between 8 and 5 pm. (The bike no longer had baskets on the back as in the uploaded photo.)

Bike was hanging in our garage and was stolen while the garage door was open at night. I don't have a pic of the bike so I have attached a stock photo. My bike looks just like this with the addition of the LP Carbon flat bar and LP Carbon Grips bar ends, plus the Selle Italia Flite Saddle.

When I walked out the morning after it was stolen the rear gate to the backyard was open. Normally the dogs run away if that's the case so I think sometime between walking the dogs and leaving for work someone entered through the gate, broke into the garage through the side door, grabbed the bike and fled. But it's entirely possible the bike was stolen over the course of the night.

My bike was locked up outside the library across the street from my house. I left it there overnight and used it to commute and run errands during the day. I last rode it on Wednesday September 24, 2008. I noticed it was missing on Monday September 29, 2008. When I went in the library to ask if they had seen anything suspicious, the branch manager told me that he had reported the bike as abandoned to the police. I have checked w/the police and Department of Transportation, but neither have my bike. So, although the circumstances seem strange, I can only assume it was stolen. I had the locking skewers on the tires and seat, and a small bulldog u-lock attaching the frame to the rack.

At the metra station in downtown wilmette - locked to the bike rack with a New York Kryptonite chain and u lock. Please help locate my bike - police report and bike serial number to come. thanks, D

my bike was left in the back of my building under the stairs over night on accident and poof next day it was gone.

My bike was sitting in the courtyard of my apartment building. Someone left our gate open between the hours of 7pm and 2 am.

I was inside 35 E Wacker Dr working security and my bike was locked up just outside. The location seemed good enough since it is a heavily trafficked area. It was there during daylight hours and disappeared.

Bike was stolen from in front of apartment building.

Bike was only ridden to the ravenswood train station once and was then stolen. I have a police report # as well as the serial # on the bike. If you have any idea where this bike may be, please let me know, and I will be happy to show proof of serial number and original purchase. I will be more than happy to pay a reward.

I've been working out at the Lakeview YMCA for three weeks now. I noticed there were other nice bikes locked up out front and it seemed like a nice neighborhood. Furthermore, there was security on site and cameras looking right at the bike racks. Anyhow, I locked the bike up at around 6:00PM and walked out of the gym at 8:15 only to find that my bike was stolen. I filed a report with YMCA security and they said they would review the security cameras.

i think someone cut the cable lock and ran away with my bike.

Forgot key to my lock and went into the Y briefly to drop stuff off and "fake" locked my bike by placing U lock on it in a crowded rack of bikes. Apparently not a very good trick as when I got out it was gone. Signed, Faith in humanity

someone came into are yard and cut the heavy duty cable

I found this bike, laying in my carport when I went out in the morning. I am assuming that it is stolen and was ditched for some reason, while the thieves were in our back alley. After calling 311 and the police, they were decidedly unhelpful and seemed disinterested in finding the owner and said I could bring the bike in to them (which I assume would mean that it would be impounded and forgotten unless someone files a theft report and is diligent about it. I thought I would try this and some other options before I turn it over to them in hopes of finding the owner as the bike looks like it is either new/well cared for. I am not a "bike person" but it looks like it is an average sized bike and does have a few identifiers and the serial number is on the bike itself!

Noticed this evening, bike was no longer there. Only 2 families share garage. Nobody sure when left open. Somebody saw an opportunity, ran in and snatched bike and evidently rode away.

Bike was in garage. Came out in the morning to see garage open and that bike was missing.
