Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was locked to a bike rack in front of an office building at 303 E. Wacker Dr. I saw the bike at approximately 2:10pm on Friday, July 13, 2012. However, upon leaving the building at approximately 4:30pm the bike and lock were gone. It was pouring raining rain for a portion of those 2hrs so I'm guessing the thief either transported the bike in another vehicle or took it within an hour of the rain stopping and me exiting the building to find it missing.

Bike was in a locked storage unit of our condo complex. Likely someone left the door open.

Like a tourist I left our bikes locked to the bike rack in front of the hotel. And bam! - these bike-stealing-motherfing-scumbags clipped the lock and took our brand new Electra beach cruiser and our old faithful GIANT mountain bike. We love Chicago - but this pisses us off. Lesson learned. Buyers of stolen bikes are no better than the goddam thieves. Stop the madness.

Ran into the bank and bike was gone.

Locked the bike up to a bike rack in the garage of my friend's building, went out for dinner and drinks and returned to find my bike had been stolen. I was unable to file a police report as the officer on the phone told me I am required to have the serial number of my bike.

Locked my bike on the corner of Brompton and Lakeshore at 1am, went out to get it at 2:30ish, bike, lock, and waterbottle were gone.

Left the bike locked to my front porch railing and it was gone after 3 hours.

The street sign was unbolted and both lock (newer u-lock w/flat key) and bike were taken. It was across the street from the address given.

I locked my bike to my girlfriend's bike in the parking lot of our apartment underneath a shaded area next to the fence. I left for a few days and when I came back the bike lock was cut and my bike was stolen. The thief left my girlfriend's bike and the broken lock which seemed to have been cut with cable cutters. Whoever stole the bike either had access to the garage door or climbed the fence, cut the lock and jumped back over the fence with the bike.

My bike was in the locked basement of my apartment building. I had two locks through the wheels and frame attached to some pipes on the wall, (newer u-lock w/flat key) but someone was able to get in and take the pipes apart and remove my bike.

Left my bike locked outside of crisp, went to a concert, when I went back the next morning the bike was gone.

Looks like the bike above, but without the back bike rack. Earlier that night, a suspicious person was found on the roof of our neighbors building, and the police were called. About a half an hour later, went out to the back porch and a teenage kid, maybe 13, was standing in the backyard. When confronted, he left. We don't know if the bike was stolen then or the next morning, when our dog ran out our open backyard gate barking at something. We found him two houses down, barking in the direction of an abandoned house. Don't know if people are in that house - maybe squatters?

I had parked my bike there around 8 o'clock on Tueasday and when I came back on Wednesday morning it was still there. I checked after 6 hours around 3 o'olock of same day it was not there.

The bike was locked overnight at a bike rack and was missing in the morning
