Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I parked my bike in front of Draftfcb (where I work) at 9:20am through the front tire, through the frame, and around the bike rack. I came back out at 1pm for lunch and it was gone. No lock, no parts of the bike left, ALL GONE. I asked a biker who had his bike locked where mine WAS if he'd seen it... he said no obviously. No one saw it get stolen.

Unlocked bike was stolen overnight from our garage, along with two childen's scooters.

Bicycle was stolen from inside of my apartment while I was home with my brother. Area is not out in the open, and is mostly only used by people that live in the building. There is the Bloomingdale Abandoned Railroad / Highline next door and the bike could be seen from there so thats the most likely case. Door was unlocked because I was home. This is the first theft thats happened at this apartment. Also nothing else was taken from the apartment except for my bike and my brothers bike.

Girl friend and I went for a bike ride, and stopped at Lincoln Park Zoo. We locked our bikes together on a bike near the Lincoln park nature trail. We quickly walked through and took a picture inside the zoo. When we returned, approximately 10 mins later, the bike and lock were missing. Her bike, a red Schwinn Varsity, was also missing.

A van was broken into on Hollywood Avenue in front of a residential area. Along with tools, my brand new Trek bike was inside and stolen.

Ran into the house for about 10 mins and left the bike unlocked. Came back and it was gone. Boyfriend's bike was gone too but recovered 5 minutes later from a homeless man.

biked was locked to front gate of my apartment in the evening. when i woke up this morning and went outside, the lock had been sawed/cut through and left behind

Not sure who would steal just a rear tire but I guess I was dead wrong! Had to walk my one wheel bike 2+ miles from bucktown to lakeview at 4am...awesome night.

Mine and my fiances bikes were stolen off our back porch. He doesn't have a picture of his so I put one of mine up. I love this bike, but I'm even more freaked out by the fact that someone was on our back porch while we were home we and didn't even know it. They were very sneaky and quiet about it because our dog generally bounds towards any noise he hears. Since my bike isn't rideable they either walked it or had a car so I'm not sure how far they got, but I would love to see this bike returned to me. Thank you so much!

Locked the bike to a street sign in a pinch because there were a lot of other bikes around. Many people were out on the street. Went into a space up the street to see a performance and when I came out the bike was gone. The screws at the bottom of the sign had been removed. A small kryptonite U-lock was around the front part of the frame; I don't believe it was broken, just slid off. It's a very distinctive bike (more pictures are here on the Lugs bike shop blog. http://lugschicago.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html). I feel terrible for not locking it more carefully. I really love this bike.

Bike was stolen from 3 car garage where it has been kept for 3+ years without trouble. I keep it locked to itself b/c there is no structure to lock it to inside the garage. Either someone broke in through the keyed door (no sign of damage) or a neighbor (of 3 flat) accidently left garage door open for theft to occur. Bike last used Monday, August 22, 2011. Reported missing Saturday morning, August 28, 2011.

someone must have loaded the bikes in a car, as one of them was not rideable

I had ridden the bicycle to Evanston, and was not allowed to take it back on the train. I locked it up below the Noyes Purple line stop on Evanston. I was unable to return to Evanston for several days, and by the time I got back the lock had been clipped and left on the ground, and the bike was gone.

I made coffee in a french press and just got back from walking the dog. I was in then out. When I was on the out way after just walking the , i saw my bike when I went in . 10 minutes later when I went to hop on the bike it was gone. I made a police report and will post the details later.

Locked up bike outside Ravenswood Antique Mart- last checked on it at midnight and when I woke up at 9am both wheels had been stolen, as had the back wheel of bike parked next to mine. My bike was U-locked through the frame (newer u-lock with flat key) to the bike rack with a cable lock (long kryptonite cable) through both tires and the ulock. Cut cable was left at the scene. My frame was still u-locked to the bike rack. Bike next to mine (do not know the owner) had back wheel taken by what appears to have been defeat of standard fixie bolt on wheel- removed with a wrench.

I went away for a business trip and forgot to bring my bike inside. When I came back to my apartment, I found the bike lock still attached to the pole. It had been cut and the bike was gone.

Bike was locked outside "Beyond the Ivy" front entrance to a tree during the Atlanta Braves game Thursday afternoon. It was stolen between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. as the lock was cut. I know, use the bike Valet.... I was on the roof at the time.

I was in the garden and the person pried open the locked gate and took the bike. The bike itself was not locked to anything, but the gate had a lock on it. The person pried open the "claw" part of the lock and got it up enough to open the door, the lock was on it the whole time. It's brown and red with a big seat that has an "S" on it. The gear/chain protector has been sawed off on the rear end, about 4 inches - there are marks on it from the sawing, and from when it got caught in the chain. There is a blue sticker from my building with the number "179" for my parking space. There was also a helmet and lock hanging from the handle bars. It was purchased at Kozy's - there may be one of their stickers on it?

I'm assuming since I left it over night at the logan square blue line, someone picked the lock and stole my bike. Nothing unique about this situation that I can think of..
