Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was in a locked courtyard not locked to anything. It is our small apartment building's private courtyard. I was gone for 45 minutes during the storm last week on a run and came back to find it missing.

Bike was sitting for 2 minutes, I was standing on porch 5 feet away from it. Theif grabbed it and rode off as I chased. Witnesses can confirm.

I parked and locked the bike outside of my yoga studio - was in a 90 minute class, came out and the bike and lock were gone.

Bike was locked to a sturdy street sign on the sidewalk. No evidence that the sign was loose or compromised. Chain and lock missing with bike.

Bike was left overnight parked across from 1130 S Michigan Avenue on a bike rack. No remnants of lock were found.

I found bike lock on the ground cut close to the locking part. There was a second lock that was alos cut so i wasn't the only person that day either. CTA person on duty was clueless

Bike stolen from in front of office building

My bike was locked to the CME bike racks closest to Rivers Restauant on the riverfront side of 30 S. Wacker. I locked my bike at 10:30 am to go to work, and at 3 pm noticed it missing. I filed a report with building security (Tishman Speyer) and was informed that after 12:30 pm their cameras were moved from the bike rack to another area. The area is heavily trafficked with smokers, building security guards, restaurant patrons, and pedestrians.

Behind a locked gate (accessible through the alley), in the back of a multi-unit condominium, at the bottom of a stairwell leading to the cellar door and behind a small concrete wall, the unfortunately unlocked bike was taken. There is truly no way anyone could have seen the bike, other than the residents of the condominium or the neighbors of the house to the west.

Bike was parked inside a closed wooden backyard fence. It would be unlikely that a passerby would notice there was a bike inside, especially at night. Someone was either at a location high enough to see over the fence or saw me ride it in and park it.

Locked bike with a cable lock outside of River City to a railing since the bike rack was full. There is a camera on the bike rack, but there maybe an obstruction from a tree branch of the theaft. I will contact building amangment Monday to see what they have on the video footage. It was not a clean cut to the cable.

someone cut my bike cord with metal clippers and walked away with my bike.

Bike was locked to street sign on corner of Wolcott and Wicker Park for less than ten minutes while I was getting ready for work. Bike with lock was gone. Suspect that thief lifted street sign to gain bike. U-lock is probably still dangling from top bar of the frame.

Bike was not locked to any post or object, but was inside a secure and locked garage. Speculation is that the thief/ves defeated the automatic garage door opener as the garage door in the alley was found open at approx 9AM on the 29th.

THe bike was locked up to a pole and when I came home it was gone with the lock.

Bike was stolen from my employers home while inside a a locked, fenced in area at the back of the house.

A blond haired caucasion man about mid 30's broke in through the front door of the condo bldg, then broke into the bike storage room and cleared out all the bikes that were inside. He is on video surveillance from the building's security camera and the CPD has a copy of the video.
