Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was last used on June 2nd and returned to the garage where it is stored. Hangs from a hook in the garage and is locked via a cable looped over the garage ceiling 2 by 4 and then through the bike wheel & frame via a U lock. Not sure of when was taken but discovered on June 11th at 11am when going out to take children on a ride. Not sure of how garage was accessed. No other items in garage taken so either the door was open when it should not have been or someone accessed via the keypad. Garage is detached and only other way in would be the door connected to the yard which is locked but could be accessed via the side of the house. 2nd bike stolen in 4 years.

Bike locked in front of Buena Park library (929 W Buena Ave, Chicago, IL 60613) on 06/11/17 around 9:50. Locked to bike rack with U lock to the frame + cable through tires. BIke, lock and cable all gone when I returned around 3:30.

Was there when I came home at 7:00pm. Noticed that it was missing at 9:30pm.

Bike was hanging in the garage. Garage was inadvertently left open and bike was stolen. In ident happened between 1:30 PM and 9:30 PM.

Bike frame locked to fence accessible only from alley.

The bike was locked from 4 to 5pm in front of Dick's at 1538 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago, IL 60610.

I left my bike infront of the store for 10 minutes on damen and milwakee, to look for someone and it went missing

Bike was locked with a cable to another bike. The cable was cut, and I watched the thief ride off with my bike.

I locked the bike to a bike rack on N. Damen Ave and went to get a cup of coffee. 45 minutes later I returned to find the lock cut and laying in the street, and the bike gone.

In front of Roosevelt University on Wabash Ave. I asked the security guards to show me the footage and we saw, what looked to be a black man with some sort of backpack/carry sack, and a baseball hat. He pretended to tie his shoes while people were walking by, and as soon as the people walked down the street, he pretended to tie his shoe again in front of my bike, probably cutting it with a wire cutter.

I was in a book club meeting and came out and it was gone. It was parked on the side of the house we were in at 4450 n Kildare. Its a red diamondback, with a rattley cargo rack on the back. Sort of loud, can't miss it.

Bike was locked to the metal handrail on the front ramp going into the Alliance Francaise on Dearborn just north of Chicago. Bike was locked to the handrail on the inside of the gate around the front of the building. I locked it up a little before 4:30 to go into class. When I came out an hour later, it was gone.

It was taken from our building bike room in the South Loop area. We had just came back from vacationing this Sunday June 4th <-- our 1 year anniversary. My wife and I went out for dinner returned around 8pm. It was taken between May 26-June 4th. I love my bikes so I told her I would go check up them. When I went to the room I was shocked and in disbelief that it was gone. The bike was locked with a Kriptonite U-lock both back wheel and frame.

Bike was stolen out of my building

This bike has been in the family for 40 years, I inherited this bike from my dad. I don't have the heart to tell him it was stolen from my home. It was taken from our building bike room in the South Loop area. We had just came back from vacationing this Sunday June 4th <-- our 1 year anniversary. My wife and I went out for dinner returned around 8pm. It was taken between May 26-June 4th. I love my bikes so I told her I would go check up them. When I went to the room I was shocked and in disbelief that it was gone. The bike was locked with a Kriptonite cable lock both wheels and frame. I'm staying hopeful it turns up. [admin note- on 8/30/21 the victim wrote to inform us the bike was put back in the basement shortly after word of the theft spread.]

They loosend the front tire hub and lifted the bike but left the front wheel and the lock locked.

This morning, when I went into our garage space, checked in our storage unit I noticed someone had stolen the bicycle out of our storage unit. The unit was not locked as it is within a secure building garage. However this week our garage has had some construction with the doors being replaced with maintenance, so the locks to the garage may have been compromised/not working for the entire week. The storage space was not locked, and neither was the bike.

Bike was locked outside the Green Eye Lounge and in the morning it was gone. A short man with a mountain bike had asked me about the bike the night before, how much it cost, and was it heavy. I did not answer but saw him the next day on the corner. I believe he took it.

I am unsure of a specific incident date. It was locked for a few days before I discovered it was stolen. Sometime between Saturday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 8.

My bike got stolen outside of 400 North McClurg Street, in the building complex above lizzie mcneil's. My bike is lightweight, two race tires, all black, and has only one hand brake on the right handlebar. It is a single speed chain. I used a thin bike lock that someone must have used small blade pliers to cut through and steal the whole thing. They even stole the bike lock and also the bike. I am attaching pictures to this so you can see exactly where the bike was stolen from right in front of cityfront place and next to the river. I had run back home to my apartment because I didn't bring any money for a taxi when I was helping my friend move his furniture into cityfront place. If anyone knows anything or how I can get access to the security camera on the street would be very helpful. I know it's just a bike, but I believe we should stop theft happening around our neighborhoods more than anything. This crime will only lead to more crime in the future unless we prevent it. I did see a security camera on the street with access to record the bike rack where i locked my bike to. I was there today June 7th 2017 form 1:50pm to 5:00pm. Please help me find these thief's and hopefully get my bike back. I have not filed a police report yet but going to now.
