Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was unlocked, under a storage cage in front of our parking spot in the building garage, which is locked to the public. Bike was stolen overnight, someone wearing a black hoody and baggy jeans was seen leaving the garage back door with it on closed circuit recording.

Rode to work and locked bike up at 7:30am. At 5:15pm came down and all that was left was the complete, unharmed front tire still locked to the bike rack. Bike was locked among numerous other bikes in the garage of commercial building where I work (225 W Wacker). Another guy on the second bike rack had his front tire stolen same day, as well.

Bikes were stolen out of the garage along with our neighbors Zip Car

Ran upstairs to feed dogs and shave. Came down. Bike gone.

New neighbors moved in and parked their car in the shared garage. Their Zip Car was stolen along with our bikes.

My bike was taken out of storage and locked to the rack on the northwest side of the ZBT fraternity on Northwestern's campus at approximately 4 pm on April 26. When I looked for it to use it the next day around 2 pm, it was missing. The lock was still attached to the bike rack, but had been cut. I assume someone came during the night, cut the lock, and took off with the bike.

Sometime between 01:00 and 10:00am. Bike was locked to wooden balcony post at rear of house/apartment near an alleyway. Post was completely torn off railing. U-lock was attached to post, frame and front wheel. Had only been here for less than 1 week. Thief/thieves would have had to climb over balcony to get to it as it was on the inside and there is a locked gateway entrance to rear of building. Appears that the railing has just been ripped off with bike still attached.

Our bikes were locked up in our garage. The door to our garage closes automatically, but is on a sensor. We came home to only one of our bikes still there. The bikes were locked to each other. The men's bike was stollen while the women's bike was still there. The cable strung the bikes together with a black Ulock. The cable was cut and left at the scene. Our air pump was also moved from our garage spot and left elsewhere in the garage near the gate to our garbage room which leads to the alley. The pump was likely needed to fill the tires with air, as the bikes had not been used since last summer.

The bike was locked to bike rack before I departed. As I returned to retrieve my bike, the bike had been removed from the scene. There was no evidence of the lock being broken, or anything else being broken/cut.

Discovered my bike missing from the locked bike room in my building. There's a single community key that must be checked out from the front desk. My helmet and pannier had been removed from my bike, and were placed neatly by the door.

Bike was stolen from locked garage between 10pm and 9am the night of April 18th.

Came downstairs. Bike gone

This was my son's bike. He came home from school and left it unlocked in front of our place where we have an area where we park and lock our bikes. We live in a garden unit, so an area not easily seen from the sidewalk and we also have a locked gate around our place. The last time we saw it for sure was around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and a neighbor said he came back home around 11 p.m. and the building's front gate was locked. We think they may have jumped the gate to steal the bike, but not sure. His lock was wrapped around the handle bar, and it is a cable lock with a combination. The seat was all the way down as he is 9 years old. We seem to never had gotten a proper picture of the bike...

The bike and one other were taken between 8PM and 8AM from inside of a 10 ft. wall compound area with a locked gate. Image depicts when back tire & seat were stolen 4 years ago. Seat is Brooks Women's brown leather saddle.

My husband and I were on a family bike ride & went into Marshalls on Clark & Halsted in Lakeview. We went inside for 30 minutes & came out and his bike was gone. Our two bikes were locked together with a cable lock and they cut it and left my bike and took his. His bike had our baby seat attached to it & with was a light grey Thule seat attached on the back with black seat padding & blue clips. So someone must have just road off on the bike with an empty baby seat on the back.

I was working out at the FFC West Loop gym location. I parked and locked my bike on the bike rack on Clinton St directly in front of the main entrance to the gym. The bike was stolen between 6:30pm-8:00pm.
