Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

At 1am I u-locked my bike to the No Parking sign in front of my house (through the frame and front tire) because my stupid landlord doesn't allow us to chain our bikes to the fence and I was too tired to haul it upstairs. It was pouring down rain. At 6:10am my roommate called from our front yard to say that the pole had been yanked out of the ground and the bike was gone. I looked out my north-facing window down onto the lawn and all fears were confirmed. The pole was lying on it's side near the street. The bike was long gone.

Locked to bike rack with U-lock, but in my haste I missed the frame and only the front wheel was locked to the rack. When I went to retrieve the bike at 4:30 the front wheel was still securely locked to the rack, but the rest of the bike was gone. Was reported to the police, but I don't have the report # on me. If updates are allowed, I will post that later.

Bike was on back porch of locked property; only real way to access area is to get past locked gate on Haddon. Locked lock is still tied onto handlebars. (Not helpful there I know:( but could be very difficult for thief to remove now so it could be telling sign)

I parked the bike there at 8:30am. A co-worker last spotted the bike at 1:30pm. My bike was gone by 5pm.

Basement door was padlocked. Padlock base was pried out of the door.

Bike was locked on state street directly in front of Harold Washington Library. It was locked to another bike and also to the bike post. We were inside the library from 6:10-7:00. When we came outside, the hybrid bike was missing along with the lock. It was still light outside and a lot of street traffic. It was 'parked' in front of the main library doors on state street in the loop. Someone must've just seen it, cut the lock quickly, and then ridden off with it. It was under surveillance cameras so the offender must have appeared confident.

Locked bike up for 20 minutes in busy Millennium Park rack on SE corner at Columbus & Monroe.

Bike was in the alleyway by my apt door. Locked behind the porch doors in a covered storage space with another bike. Parked it as I always do Sunday night and It was gone somewhere Monday night.

Went into the FFC on North Ave at 3:15 & exited around 4:00 To find the bike missing & security guard in building Playing on phone & Starbucks security guard watching TV. Seriously?? No one saw anything on this busy Memorial Day. Figures. Other bikes on rack but of course mine was Most appealing.

Bike was in exercise room in lobby of small condo building.

My bikes were stolen just today 5/26/2013 as I arrived home from work at midnight. I left my bike as always in the garage along with another bike this morning when I wanted to ride, I found no bikes 1-(bike) this is the most hurtful bike of the 2. 2008 Specialized tarmac ( black frame with golden decals of specialized and model) 52cm Mavic wheelset ksyrium elite. specialized toupe saddle very worn out white and red color. Dura Ace shifters and rear derailur specialized crank (compact) 2- bike. 2012 Specialized rockhoper small frame. black frame and white decals of specialized as well as on the wheels. 24 gears from shimano.

I locked my bike to the rack outside of XSport gym on Ashland & School. There were numerous other bikes on the rack as well. I believe the thief cut my lock because my bike stuck out quite a bit due to the bright blue color. Nothing was left at the scene and the gym had no cameras pointed towards the bike rack. The photo attached is a stock photo. The bike is identical and also includes toe hooks and pouch under the seat.

My bike was locked to the metal gate in the front of my house. The gate was cut/sawed through and my bike was taken.

After falling off my bike and getting pretty banged up on my knee and elbow I made a locking error, looping my cable through wheels and locking with u lock, neglecting to lock frame and rear wheel to pole (typical locking pattern). I was hurt so I put off getting the bike, all someone had to do was snap cable and ride off. I have no way of knowing when someone came by and did this.

Was at the gym, came out, the bike was gone.

Bike was in basement of the building I reside in (Wolcott and Augusta) 7pm it was noticed to be missing and the side door to my residence door was open. Bike was seen in basement that same morning at about 6:30 am

Bike was locked to railing at the entrance of open office building 800 W Huron upon arrival at the office. Bike lock was cut through and left at scene between 2-6pm May 24, 2013. Realized bike was stolen upon leaving the still open office at 6:15pm.

My bike was last seen at 1:30pm by a co-worker. I left work at 5pm and it was gone including the lock.
