Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked my bike to the large wooden support for my porch in the gated back area behind my place. It was last used on June 26 at 9pm and I noticed it was gone the next day at 6pm. The thief did not take an accompanying bike that was locked to mine, nor did he take my helmet.

I locked the bike to a street sign in front of the Embassy Suites around 12:30 a.m. When I returned two hours later, the bike was gone. There was no sign of the lock or the bike.

Bike had both wheels locked to the frame in a private alleyway of my apartment building. It was not locked to an object, as there is no object in the alleyway to lock bikes to. The only way to get into the alleyway is if you have a key to the building, or a resident buzzes you in. The three other bikes regularly parked in the alleyway were not stolen.

Went inside to meet with someone about an apartment, came back outside and my bike was gone. Was stolen in the middle of the day on a very busy street in front of people.

(Photo is out-of-date, front wheel now has greep deep v. I U-locked the bike just to the rear wheel like AN IDIOT and the frame/front wheel got stolen. In front of Chick Pea Restaurant, Chicago just west of Damen, northside of street, locked to rack. Between hours of 10:30 and 3 a.m.

Bike was locked in my back porch. Another tenant left the gate open. It was gone in 20 minutes.

My bike was stolen.

My bicycle was locked to a solid metal beam behind the back entrance to my apartment (in an alleyway) when I left for work at 7am, but was gone (along with the lock) when I returned that evening at 7pm. The lock was fed through both the wheel and frame of the bike, then around the beam. The beam was attached to solid flat surfaces on both the top and bottom indicating that the lock could not have been slipped off anywhere. The lock was a cable type with integrated key lock. The bike was in this location for only 3 days.

I last saw the bike at about 10pm on 7/25/11, locked to the parking sign with an On-Guard Bulldog combination U-lock, before going to bed. I had locked it to this sign a few times for as long as about 3 hours during the day with no problems. This was the first time (and last time) I had locked it anywhere overnight. Please help. Thank you.

Bike was locked along with a 3 wheel handcycle. stolen from basement garage.

Similar handcycle as the picture shown above, but black and fork slightly different. Missing back and seat cushion. I have the spinergy wheels shown. Handcycle was locked in a basement garage.

My bike was locked to the iron fence in front of my house. I last saw it at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 25. When I left for work at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, the bike was gone. The lock was cut clean through.

My very distinctive (and heavy!) bicycle was stolen from in front of my place of work on July 15 between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. The pole with the street sign that my bike had been U-locked to had been compromised when I discovered the theft.

Was inside bar with bike locked up. It happened sometime between 8pm and 11pm. Came back three hours later and bike was gone. Cable was cut through and left at the scene. Lots of people out, I'm surprised nobody saw anything.

Bike was taken 6/29-7/1/2011. Found stolen around 6:00pm 7/1/2011. Cable was cut to take the bike, but the front wheel was left (on a U-lock). Attached image is a stock image -- the Cannondale logo is more pink than orange on the actual bike

Stolen with another bike, also unlocked, under a porch, out of view from the street or alley. We left them there for a few hours to run an errand and when we came back the bikes were gone. Some kids had been seen messing around in the alleyway, so maybe they were stolen by a local.

Locked it securely overnight in front of a shoe repair shop in front of my building. The next night it wasn't there.

I came into my apartment last Saturday(the 16th) night at 2am and put my bike foolishly outside my door and then accidentally fell asleep. I woke up to a start at 8am Sunday and checked and the bike was gone. I have since checked the video surveillance system of the apartment and filed a police report. I HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE AND STILLS OF THE THIEF LEAVING THE BUILDING WITH MY BIKE!!! I have contacted bike shops around my neighborhood and checked the Swap-O-Rama. So far to no avail.. Please help.

The bike was locked to a street sign on the corner. Upon leaving the event we realized there was no street light at the corner and the bicycle was gone. We returned in the morning because it seemed unlikely that a u-lock was cut through and the rear wheel was chain locked to the bike. Upon inspection, we found that four street signs in the area had had the bottom bolt removed and the posts could be lifted out of the holder.
