Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was outside, in a semi-covered apartment building courtyard. The courtyard is closed off & has a locking gate / door. I parked the bike there around 10pm on Tuesday June 24th, and left it overnight. When I left to bike the following day (Wed, June 25th) I discovered my bike was no longer in courtyard, and the courtyard gate had been busted. The chain door has a built in locked handle, which was completely removed. It was either busted out, or removed with tools. My bike seems to be the only thing that was stolen from the courtyard.

Stopped in Oz Park to use the porta-potty, leaned bike against porta-potty for one minute. Bike was missing when I exited.

Bike was strapped onto car bike rack outside of bike store.

Was gone for maybe an hour so I didn't lock my bike up yet, but planned on locking it up eventually. My roommate was home and we had guys come over to work on our place from the reality company.

Bike was taken from a 3rd floor back porch, which is only accessible to residents. However, the side door handle sticks sometimes and doesn't fully lock. Unfortunately this was the likely opportunity the thief had to steal the bike. Also, our apt. is a rear unit, not easily seen from the street. This leads me to believe the thief may possibly live close enough to have watched and waited for opportunity. The creep didn't steal the more expensive BMX bike sitting right next to it ironically... must have been too dirty..

At the World Cup viewing party in Grant Park, I locked my bike to a short, black metal decorative fence that borders flower beds on the sidewalk with hundreds of other bikes up and down Columbus, on both sides of the street. I am sure this was not a temporary fence. Came back around 11pm to see that ALL of the bikes were gone, not a single one left on the fences and a lot of the fences had their black paint peeling when I'm pretty sure they hadn't before. I would have thought this was a regular stolen bike but there were SO MANY bikes for the entire block, both sides of the street, when I parked it and NOT A SINGLE ONE LEFT when I got back, I really don't think I was the last person to go back for their bike, especially given the crazy traffic and loads of drunk people. I went so far as to call Grant Park security, CDOT, the Park District and CPD hoping that my bike was impounded or something for being technically illegally parked but none of them claimed responsibility. It just seemed so weird that the WHOLE street was cleared from bikes were not many hours before there were hundreds. CDOT noted the paint all of sudden could come from the sparks of an angle grinder.

I was going into my morning class at 8 am and i came out at 10:15 and it was gone. I leave my bike there fairly often.

I had just gotten home from work and put my bike on my second story back deck as I always do. Since I did not have anywhere to go the next day I stayed in my apartment. My girlfriend came over earlier the next day (June 22nd) and asked where my bike had went. I looked out my back deck and sure enough it was gone.

I rode my bike to the "Lou Jones/ 35th st." Metra station located at S Federal Street and 35th at 5:00pm Monday, 6/23/14. I locked it up through the frame and through the front tire and got on the train at 5:04 pm. I came back the next morning on Tuesday, 6/24/14 6:30 am to the spot where I locked my bike and both the bike and the lock were gone. I have been riding my bike daily from Lou Jones or IIT to Cermak and State Street. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary when I parked my bike yesterday.

My bike was locked up with my cable lock on southport just west of Clybourn while I was in shred415 for an hour. When I returned, both the lock and the bike were gone

I locked up my bike behind the iO theater on Clark/Addison while I attended the show. When I came out the bike was missing along with the lock.

My bike is missing from the garage of our 3 apt building...

I locked my bike to a bike rack in front of my office building at 8:30am when I went to work. When I came outside at 6:00pm, my bike was gone, but my lock and helmet were still locked to the rack.

I came to office at 9:00 am, parked the bike at "Chase Tower, 10 South Dearborn Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60603" by locking the front tyre and bike frame with the bike rack and the back tyre with the bike frame. At 6:15 PM when I came out of office the bike was not there.

Bike was brought into a friends locked and enclosed back yard and leaned up against a friend's already locked bike under the stairs. I was only running in to grab a friend to have the front flat tire repaired but we had to wait for the downpour to stop. Once the rain calmed down, I went downstairs to grab the bike and it was gone.

Left bike on East side of Canal St across from Ogilivie Trans center on Friday after work, bike was gone on Monday AM. Locked with cable and u lock.

The bike and bike seat was locked to a bike post outside of my employment on Fri June 20th from 12noon - 5:10 p.m. The cable was wrapped through the bike seat and connected to the ulock. They cut through the cable. They left the ulock and broken cable.

i locked up the bike with my cable and masterlock to a pair of small trees behind our apartment building. i left the bike at 1pm. i went to ride again around 4:45pm and the bike was gone. lock had been cleanly cut and left on the ground. many other bikes around my bike and no others were bothered.
