Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Sometime in the morning of May 28th, possibly 8 am, the bike was stolen out of the rear of my car, which was parked directly in front of my house. Back window of car was broken, door opened and bike and front wheel (which was not attached) were removed. Witness says suspicious black car seen near scene of crime right before it was discovered at 8-9am.

All my wheels and seat are locked by special screws. I have left my bike here for years and this morning it was gone!

Went to grab a late lunch at The Dock on Montrose beach. Arrived around 3pm and locked the bike to the rack on the East end. Returned an hour later and the U-lock had been cut through. 2012 Specialized Hardrock Disc 29rer with continental hybrid tires. Yellow and black with phone mount on handlebars.

The bike was locked by the Western blue line around 12 and around 8 when I got off work was missing along with lock.

Sometime between 8 AM and 8 PM today my bike was stolen from the garage area where I park. I recently started locking my bike next to my parking spot because it was too difficult for me to carry up and down the stairs to my apartment. It was locked in a corner, directly next to where I park my car. I suspect that someone may hang out in that corner over night and there were signs that the bike may have been urinated on (noticed on Saturday).

Bike was in a gated parking pad, in a shed with heavy duty keyed padlock. I found the lock missing, shed and gate open this morning close to noon. There is a second bike in the shed, but only one was taken. Either someone was hoping to get lucky opening a random shed, or had seen me store the bike in there.

the downstairs neighbors left a door unlocked that goes into the storage room where there were at least ten different bikes. The their came in through that door some time in the night and took my girlfriends Trek. The person must have been going house to house looking for unlocked doors because the back door isn't easy to spot.

Thieves most likely had huge wire cutters, there was a mark where they had initially tried to cut the lock then a second where they had successfully cut it. most likely at 2 or 3 in the morning. Frame was worth 300 dollars at least so thieves may have known the value of the bike given there was a second bike (a Sole cruiser) that was worth 400 beside it that was not cut that also had a u lock.

I locked my bike to the fence in front of the iGo Car spot at Pottawattomie Park on Rogers Ave. while I had the iGo Car rental to run a couple errands. When I returned with the car, the bike was gone.

I parked and locked my bike right outside of my office building on Monday morning right before 9am. When I came down at 6:30pm, the frame and back tire were gone. They left the front tire that was locked to the bike rack. (Older U-lock with round key) Thank you!

After a party I simply forgot to lock the bike. It was standing in my backyard which is pretty open to the alley.

Bike was stored in an interior hallway landing and it appears the perp came thru a window from a neighboring rooftop and took the bike along with another bike of mine!

Placed bike behind garbage can at 711. Went to use ATM. Returned less than a minute later and bike was gone.

Possibly the garage door was left open while a resident was taking out garbage or simply forgot to close the door for some period of time and the bike was removed from the garage.

Vintage bike was locked to a pole just outside the Red Line Berwyn Stop. The closest streets are Broadway and Berwyn. I left the bike for a few days and found it missing including the lock. This bike is usually not desirable as it is old and one has one speed. It's a very large, black one speed bike, called a Gazelle.

Thief was able to get my electric garage door open and took all three bikes that were up on bike racks but locked to themselves. (Older U-locks with round keys) There was no way to ride any of the bikes and I suspect they were all throw on the back of a truck or van and driven off. The Scattante was the most valuable of the three. My wife's old bike was a blue mountain bike with flat tires, and locked. My kid's bike had flat tires, is white with orangish tires and it too was locked but taken.
