Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Someone came up to my back porch on the third floor and broke the wooden beam that my bike was attached to.

I went in to go see a movie and when I came out my bike was gone! I don't understand how no one tried to stop the thief as there must have been dozens of people walking by while the person was stealing my bike.

We think our garage door malfunctioned at some point and someone was able to sneak in and take it. It was not locked to anything within the garage. We noticed it missing yesterday, and believe this happened during the day of 7/26 or during the afternoon of 7/27. Also stolen was an Amstel Light neon sign.

The bike was left in a communal laundry/storage room, in the rear of a locked/gated apartment yard. Left the bike on 7/25, and discovered it missing from the premises on 7/28.

It was taken from my garage.

Took some of my family to the zoo to show them a good time in Chicago. We locked our bikes to the bike racks at the Cannon Dr entrance to the zoo. Went in the zoo for a few hours, came back out and my cousins bike was gone. The cable lock was still there minus a bike. The cable has=d one clean cut.

like that pic but black seat, and it was lower like for a girl. someone had a huge hammer or an iron cutter to cut through the gate/fence. I recall seeing a tall white guy with blonde hair acting weird at one point when I was outside by the bike. happened between 2am-9am Friday july 27th. I ride my bike a lot, but rarely put in front.

Parked bike around 8pm the night before. Stayed overnight. Discovered the padlock had been cut and the bike and chain stolen at 7am the next morning.

Bike was left overnight on an outside deck behind 4-5 apartments but unavailable to the public behind a deadlock (or the apartments themselves).

On Thursday at 2:00 i parked my bike inside Harris Bank while i deposited a check. i was in the bank for no more than 3 minutes and when i went back to the front of the bank lobby the bike was gone.

Sunday afternoon, I locked my bike in the same location in front of my build as I do every time I'm done riding it. I had taken the bus to work Mon/Tues/Wed, and hadn't used it since then. When I went to get it this evening, there was no indication of where it disappeared to.

My bicycle was left in the back stairway of my apartment building. No one but tenants use this area, it is locked and not visible from any street or alley. Thief had to have had a key.

Bike was not locked inside individual storage unit in basement of apartment building. Storage unit was locked with a combination padlock. Latch holding padlock to wood frame of storage unit was broken (padlock intact). The basement storage area/laundry room is left unlocked by other residents 50%+ of the time, tho we lock it ourselves. The exterior door shows no sign of being forced open. We rode Monday, 7/23, did not ride Tuesday 7/24, bike was missing early morning of Wednesday, 7/25. Landlord sent an email Monday night saying that on Wednesday, 7/25, they would send scavengers in to clean out any storage locker unused by current residents. I did not receive the email -- my husband only noticed it *after* the bike was gone. His bike, an aluminum ladder, and a window AC were not taken from the unit. Unable to reach the landlord until later today.

I locked my bike in front of my apartment late last night. Someone cut the lock in the middle of the night.

I only locked the wheel, so the thief detached the frame and left the wheel. Lesson learned. It was the first day the bike was locked outside.

It was U-locked to a wooden fence that was not cut. The lock had been difficult to lock and needed replacing.

Got home from ride Sunday morning, left bike in my gated and fenced backyard next to back deck to wash and clean drive train. Went inside to change and get cleaning things, maybe 30 minutes later, at most, went out into back yard and bike was gone.

Bike disappeared from my garage (Fulton River District - Intersection of Fulton and Des Plaines over the weekend (7/21-7/23). It's been stored safely there for over a year without incident, apparently some neighbors saw a suspicious individual in the garage and called the police but not before he seems to have made off with my bike. The ironic thing is that the large majority of people will not be able to ride this bike. Is is 61 cm and currently set up for a 6'8" person (me) to ride. There is a U-lock holder attached to the vertical bar where a drink holder usually goes. Any help in finding my ride would be greatly appreciated, as you can imagine this is extremely frustrating!

Bike was left overnight outside of residence. Found only piece of lock in the morning.
