Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I live in a garden apartment and had secured my bicycle beside the stairway using both a bike lock and a cable wire lock. Despite this, my bike was stolen. I noticed burn marks on the wooden stairway near where the bike was kept. It appears this fire damage could have been caused while cutting through the bike lock. The day before the theft, we also had a shoe stolen from outside our apartment.

I left my garage open on accident. Kill me.

I left my bike locked to the fence, inside the gate, in front of my house around 1:30 a.m. and it was gone by 8 a.m. when my roommate left the house for the day. Both the lock and bike are missing, as well as another bike inside the fence that did not belong to me.

No details of incident yet. No one present when bike stolen.

Came out and my bike is gone on ashland

The bike wasn’t locked to anything, but it was within a tall, locked gate with other bikes, which were undisturbed

We parked both scooters at the Bike racks at the Osterman Beach between 2pm and 3:30 (at the latest) pm the scooter was stolen within that time. There was a city camera (5148C) near the mens restrooms and outdoor shower area. There was another person there whos Bike was stolen at the same time, his name was Jake. The scooter in this image is the OTHER SCOOTER that was next to mine but they are the same make and model. That one did not get stolen but was tampered with.

I left the bike locked with a steel folding lock attached to the fence in the driveway behind my house at about 9:00 AM on Friday August 29th. My roommate alerted me at 5:00 on Saturday August 30th that the lock had been sliced through and the bike was gone.

I’m writing to expand the report on the theft of my bike. It’s a specialized turbo Vado SL 4.0 blue size S that I purchased in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in 2022 for 11,410,000 Colombian pesos. At the current exchange rate and value, that’s approximately US$4,000. It was stolen at UIC facilities Behavioral Science Building Harrison Street 1007 main entrance attached with a cable lock to the racks in front of a camera. I parked at 9:42am and come back at 11:30am to notice it wasn't there anymore.

On August 28th, 2025 at 8:30am, I parked and chained my bike next to the railing of the stairs before I left for work. I looped the chain through my front wheel and frame. When I got off work same day and arrived at the station at 6pm - the bike along with the chain was stolen and gone. I asked the cta staff member if she could help me locate the bike, but she had no answers for me.

New Canyon Ultimate CF 7 in teal was stolen out of detached garage. I live in a 3 unit condo with a shared detached garage. The bike was last seen in the garage around 7:05pm on 8/26 mounted to a wall and secured with a lock. At some point over the next 25 hours, the bike was cut out from the lock and stolen. It is not clear how the thief entered the garage as all doors were locked.

My bike club was leaving Carbon restaurant on 26th st and a fellow member offered me a ride home. She parked on the corner of 26th and Shields Ave. We put our bikes on the back of her rack, mine on the outside, and got in her car and shortly left. The type of bike rack she has only holds the bike with tension but does not attach the bike to the rack in any way and at some point between us getting in the car and driving to the State St highway entrance the bike was stolen off of the rack.

My son locked his bike to the bike rack at school (Pilgrim Luthern School) on the corner of W Cullom and N. Winchester Ave in North Center. The school's camera shows a man come across the street, pull lock cutters out of his bag, cut the lock, and jump on the bike and ride away. The man was wearing a white hoodie, black pants, and black baseball hat. He looks like 5'9-5'11' and 25-40 years old (you can see his face very well in the video).

Sometime between 9pm on 8/25 and 4pm on 8/26, bike was stolen from our third-floor deck (since it's the top floor and behind a locked gate, we hadn't locked the bike, assuming it'd be safe up there. Lesson learned).

I biked over to my gym, Lincoln Square Athletic Club and arrived around 1:05. I locked my bike up directly to the left of the club on a bike rack in the alley under the Western Brown Line. Right in front of Lincoln Ave. I exited the gym by 1:35 to see that my bike was gone from the rack. I had a lock tied to it. There was also a black bike on the rack that was gone as well when I exited the gym. There was a homeless man smoking a cigarette but claimed he saw nothing happen and that he had just arrived.

Bike was stolen by one person with helmet and backpack at 10.56am on August 25. he was caught on camera in front of the building (Merchandise Mart, North Orleans Street). The lock on the frame and the wheel were cut and left at the scene.

Individual entered garage and stole bike. Garage is within fenced area, possible individual jumped fence.

My bike was stolen 8/24/25 at 2:30pm at the Jewel Osco on 3531 n. Broadway in Chicago. My bike lock was cut while I was inside. The bike is a specialized Diverge E5.
