Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Rail from my deck was removed to take bicycle. Inside locked/gated back yard on my deck locked to rail.

The bike was in the backyard while I went to let my dog out to pee. I was inside for about 4 minutes. When I came out, my helmet was on the ground and bike was gone. It looked like someone had tried to open the locked gate, then hopped the fence. They managed to take it in under 4 minutes, while I was near a rear window.

Thieves entered our locked garage through back yard. Took this bike and one other (Jamis Commuter, see separate post), and left through alley.

Bike was in our locked garage (along with several others). Thieves entered garage through our back yard, either by scaling fence, or entering through front gate. They took two bikes (see post: Trek Mountain Bike). Exited through alley.

Stolen sometime between 6:15 pm and 11:30 pm from bike rack located on SW corner of 51st/Lake Park. Lock was probably cut. Helmet and cable connecting front tire to u-lock left at the scene.

Bike was stolen from the lock foyer of my small apartment building.

I locked the bike to the bike rack on the sidewalk on the E side of Clinton where there were several other bikes and went to the gym directly across the street. When I came back an hour and a half later, the bike was gone. No sign of the lock either.

Bike was locked to itself, and in locked enclosed area in back stairwell of apartment building, and a back locked gate. So it was someone who at some point could have gained access into the building.

The person who stole it jumped my neighbors fence on the opposite side of my porch, breaking his fence to get into our otherwise locked up apartment building. Used chain cutters of some sort.

Bike was in the basement of where I live. The basement is locked. It was broken into and the bike were stolen.

Bike stored in garage. Neighbor that shares garage may have inadvertently left door open last night. Received a knock on our front door this morning notifying us that our garage door was open. The bicycle and our small camping axe were the only things noticed to be missing, though my car was searched as well.

They used a stick to get leverage and bust the lock

The morning of the incident, I found my cable bike lock cut and on the pavement next to the stairwell. My bike had been attached by U-Lock to one of the wooden posts on the stairwell and the post had been unscrewed and left on the side of the building. I locked up the bike the night before without any incident and woke up the next morning to find it gone. There was a green bike next to another stairwell in the alley that was not locked up at all and was untouched when I returned that evening.

Bike last seen on Sep 10, 2013. It was looked in a bike storage area in the apartment.

The bike was locked at the Barrington Train Station (Metra). I think the bike was stolen in early afternoon. There was another bike already in my location when I returned at 8:45pm.

Locked my bike to street sign ("pay for parking") on Hubbard near Clark intersection (near Boss bar). Returned a few hours later and both bike and lock were gone. The bike settings were set for a very tall person. There is a red reflector on the back of the bike (under the seat) and a battery powered flashing headlight attached to the front handlebars.
