Nothing else was stolen, even though there were lawn tools and other (much older) bikes inside as well. A neighbor apparently noticed the shed door swinging open sometime in the middle of winter, but it must have blown shut again before I noticed. Which type of area was your bike stolen from?:
Storage room.
How was the bike locked?:
Not locked.
How long was the bike locked in this location?:
I store the bike in the basement off and on year-round (unlocked). It is common practice for employees to do so, as the space is only used for storage and it's off-limits to the general public.
Incident Description:
The bike was not locked but stored in a secure (I thought) location in a storage room in a basement of my workplace. Few people have access to the space- employees, repairpersons, etc. I know now I was too trusting, but I believed fellow staff knew the bicycle was mine and if anyone saw someone walking out with it (which would be EXTREMELY hard to do without someone seeing) they would intervene. I went down to get it to ride it home on Wed 1 June and found it was missing. A co-worker said he definitely saw it exactly one week ago, so the incident happened sometime between 25 May and 1 June. It's my fault, I know, but I really want my bike back!

Garage or enclosed parking area.
How was the bike locked?:

How long was the bike locked in this location?:
garage was usual storage for this bike
Incident Description:
Stolen bike was chained to a two bike stand, along with my wife's 'shopping bike' - an almost new beach cruiser type three speed machine. The two were almost hidden at the rear of our car park space by our car, and an unlocked shopping type bike leant against the same wall a few feet away. Garage is supposedly 'secure' but we suspect tradesmen have more access to keys than they should have. We drove into our parking space at 3PM on the afternoon of the 28th. Our condo building is still under heavy unit construction, so were not surprised to see two tradesmen in the further part of the garage, near a typical white panel van. At 11PM, we had to leave our building, by car. We got in the car, my wife spotted that my bike was missing. The fairly hefty cable lock had been cut through by a bolt or cable cutter - the sort of tool those workers would likely have had in their van. They were outside contractors for the building company who is finishing off units in our building. The rep for that company stated that all workers they hire are well known to them and cannot see them stealing a bike so blatantly. Sure... A police report was filed, awaiting the paper copy being mailed to me as this was entered. The bike had rear panniers on a Performance Bicycle rack, with a U lock in one pannier - no key - and a crash helmet slung over the ends of the bars. It was fitted with white plastic fenders. The handlebars are FSA 'Wing Pro' low drop compact bars, that I had handy and fitted myself - these alone make the bike stand out. My wife's bike and another unlocked bike some few feet away were left untouched, which suggests this street trash is a cyclist, or knows something about bikes.
