Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I had biked to work and locked it to the bike rack outside of my office as I have done for the past few weeks. I saw the bike when I went to lunch at around 12:30pm but when I left the office at 4:30 it was gone. There was no sign of it being stolen just no longer on the bike rack. I used a cable with an integrated key lock which I've used for years but clearly that was not enough to keep my bike safe.

Bike was locked with a newer u-lock with flat key to a street sign in front of building @ ~6pm. Went to sleep @ ~12:00 am. Midnight noticed entire sign dug out and missing, along with my bike (described) and girlfriend's bike attached to it.

I locked my bike up at around 7pm when I got home for the night with a newer u-lock with a flat key. When I awoke in the morning the street sign it was locked to was pulled from the ground and the bike was missing. The police wouldn't even come out to fill out an report.

My bike and another bike were locked with newer U-locks with flat keys to a street sign outside of a residential building. At midnight, when we went to bed, the bikes were still there. Although our windows were open all night, we didn't hear any noise from the sign being removed, but in the morning (at the latest 6:45am) there was a huge hole, broken concrete, and no sign of the bikes or the street sign.

This bike was taken from our bike storage area in our condo building.

Bike was stolen from a basement unlawfully. Caught the guy on surveillance video. Male mid 20s to mid 30s. 5'7" to 6'. small build wearing a white t-shirt with jeans. Dark hair with a decent sized BALD spot in back.

I left this bike out on our locked, and enclosed back porch. Someone wheeled a garbage can next to the window, climbed in, and walked out the side door with this bike. All of this happened while we were sleeping in our room that faced the back porch area.

Bike had been U-locked to the fence in a back yard and had last been seen at about 4pm on 5/29. Discovered bike was missing at about midnight. Cardboard boxes had been placed where the bike had been locked. Lock was not left behind.

stolen some time between 7:30pm Monday, May 30, 2011 (Memorial Day) and 8am Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Bike was locked with ulock on front wheel and frame, directly in front of parked vehicle, Toyota Matrix. This is a purchased parking spot! Bike has San Marcos bike seat.

Bike was locked up with a combo cable lock to a railing on 3rd floor rear entrance with access from the alley. Entrance light was on keeping the area well lit. Between 11pm on May 30 and 7am May 31, 2011 the cable of the lock was cut and bike was taken. The lock was left at the scene.

Two bikes were locked to a city bike rack, on the corner of Michigan and Madison, using two cable locks. We went into the restaurant in the park to use the restroom. We returned less than 10 minutes later to find my bike gone, the cable cut, laying on the ground. The other bike was still there but the second cable lock was also gone. Nobody in the area came forward with any information so we conducted a small, limited search of the area. We had problems contacting CPD on the phone so we walked to the station at State and 18th to file a report.

The bike was sitting unlocked in a garage. I came back to the garage with the door down and the bike gone.

I feel that my lock was cut and my bike was stolen.

My bike and a Trek 7100 were locked together to a street sign across the street from, and in front of 1 West Superior. My Cannondale was stolen - his Trek was left behind. The cable was cut and left still threaded through the Trek.

Locked it to a street sign in the south end of the loop in in the morning with a newer u-lock w/flat key, and when I came back in the evening it was gone. Presumably the thief unscrewed the street sign and removed the bike.

The Bike was in the bike room of this building, which is a locked secure building. Last seen Tuesday, May 24. The bike must have been taken between Tuesday afternoon and Friday.

My bike had been, I thought, safely locked within this parking/garbage area of the building, which should only be accessed from the interior of the building. If the lock on the gate is fiddled with, it will open. Many other bikes locked (and unlocked) in this area! Chain must have been cut, but is missing with bike.
