Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I have been parking my bike at this location for 4 years. I attached the bike front wheel and frame to the bike rack with a u lock around 6 am on 10/4. When returning after working a 24 hour shift, the bike was missing from the location along with the bike lock. For the attached picture, the bike is photographed upside down as I performed maintenance on it before a triathlon in 2008. The aerobars were not attached until 2009.

The bike is usually kept on the enclosed back proch of our apartment building along with 3 other bikes - one of which belongs to the neighbor. Those bikes are still there. The building has 9 units on three levels, all have access to each other's porches via the back entrance which is locked. The bike was stollen somewhere between midnight and 11am, Tuesday 10/05 and can be possibly be narrowed to between the hours of 8:30 and 11am since my wife left aroung 8:30am and didn't notice it missing.

Thiefs broke into garage and stole bikes.

They entered the garage through the side door, which was most likely unlocked. They left through the overhead door, taking the bike along with a GPS and some tools.

It was stolen from in front of the store I work at-- unfortunately, the bike rack is out of my sight-line. Days before, someone had stolen my bike-light as well.

I parked my bike on a bicycle rack at the Forest Glen Metra station at 8:06 a.m. I ran a U-Lock through the front tire and onto the frame. When I returned at 5:45 p.m., only my front tire and lock remained on the bike rack.

On Saturday the 2nd of October someone stole my 3month old single speed/fixi bike (size: 59cm) from the Green City Market (Lincoln Park Farmers Market) in Chicago. You can see at the pictures: it has a pure white frame (no prints or sticker), brown saddle and grips, all other parts are kept in black. It has a black and silver badge on the front with the republic bike logo on it. The most iconic thing might be the orange metallic back wheel bearing which is also switchable from fix gear to single speed (meaning free hub) when you turn the whole wheel 180degrees. I have all the documents to proof its mine incl. the serial number.

NOTE: image is a similar bike to mine -- NOT my actual bike. Upon returning from the bank Saturday morning, we found a strange bike in the rear of our property next to the garage, and the door to the garage was ajar. Not recognizing the bike, we moved it off our property into the alley. I didn't make the connection until two days later when I went to get on my bike Monday morning to bike to work and it was gone. Only the yellow Gary Fisher bike was stolen from the garage, so we think somebody decided to "trade up."

The bike was locked to a street sign through the front tire and frame of the bike. Another bike was also locked on the same pole and was still there when I came to realize mine had been taken. I think the Ulock must have been picked (though it was a flat key lock) or busted, removed from the bike, then the bike was taken (?). People were walking by to get to the Logan Square Auditorium so it must have been removed quickly.

My wife and I went downtown on our bikes. We locked to a bikerack acroos from the Westin hotel entrance next to the Hancock Building. Just outside the Northface shop. When we cam e back my wife´s bike was left on scene - so was another bike and another lock that was cut. Both mine and my wife´s bikes were locked with two locks - both were cut.

The horizontal screw securing the street sign to its base was removed and a part of the metal was broken--the sign was then replaced and appeared to be intact, but I was able to lift the sign out. Unclear whether it was like this before I locked it to the sign. I reported it to 311 but not sure when they'll be out to fix it. Locked with a newer mini u-lock with flat key.

I locked up my bike outside of Fat Cat bar and restaurant at Lawrence and Broadway at 1:15pm. I went inside the restaurant for an hour and came out at 2:30pm and my bike was gone. The U-lock was hanging there and the bike was gone. I am not sure how it was stolen or how the bike was gone and the lock was stil left there.

Bike was stolen in front of the main entrance at Navy Pier directly across from the security house in plain view of hundreds of people walking by on a busy Friday evening. A Trek 7100 men's bike was stolen at the same time.

This bike was cable-combination locked to the bike rack directly in front of the security house at main entrance of Navy Pier and was stolen on a busy Friday evening at near 6pm in view of hundreds of people passing by.

Bike was cable locked to back porch, area was gated and locked

i had two bikes stolen mine and my wifes jango.

Broke into garage - tires were flat so not sure how far they went.

Thief broke into garage and stole bikes off the walls.

Bike was stolen in front of the building where I work, and near the post office boxes. The area is exposed to many homeless individuals who walk through the train tracks that is next to the building.
