Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I use this bike and trailer to haul my commercial packages to the post office and have been doing it for over two years. I have been bringing the bike into the main lobby and usually locking it to a railing under the escalator (with the permission of the janitor/custodian). That day, I didn't have the cable and lock with me and left it where I usually do, instead of trying to bring the bike and trailer to the second floor in the elevator (too small for bike and trailer). When I was finished with the postal clerks, I saw immediately that it was missing and went back to the clerks - just in case a security person moved the bike, then direct to USPS postal police and then filed a CPD report. The following morning, I did see the tire tracks of the bike and trailer - that someone had walked out of the building and bounced down the stairs - probably heading east on Harrison. THERE SHOULD BE A SURVEILANCE CAMERA/DOCUMENTATION of the theft.

Parked to City bike rack with other bikes at noon, gone when I returned at 6pm. Kryptonite cable lock with built in key lock, was mounted to the frame via connector, gone with bike.

Bike was left unlocked in the basement of 800 Sherman Ave, which is locked. Between September 1 and September 15 it disappeared.

This bike was recently donated to West Town Bikes from the UIC Police. My police friend who dropped it off told me he nabbed the guy who stole it shortly after the fact. The perpatraitor was found with several stolen wheels as well last September shortly after school had started. My officer friend said he would of like to have had it returned to the owner but there is no registration record of it. I told him I would post it around to see if anyone would claim it before WTB had it's way with it. Give me an accurate description of the seat under the bag and arrangements can be made to return it to you.

Garage broken into.

Someone broke into my house but only got as far as the downstairs door. They simply pushed in the front door, as the door jamb wasn't in the best shape. The bike was at the bottom of the stairs, just inside that door, at the foot of the stairs that lead up to my apartment door. It's a private entrance. It most likely someone on my street or even in my building who saw me leave for the holiday first thing Monday at like 5 am. It was the afternoon when my neighbor saw my door open.

The bicycle was lock thru each tire and frame on a metal bar type fence behind stairs in the gangway of the apartment building I live at. Someone had to have either knwn the bicycle was there, or really sought it out.

Our building was burglarized and 5 bikes were stolen from our basement storage units, where they were not locked, but had been there for weeks. Older bikes weren't taken , but newer ones were, along with tools.

I brought the bike into my backyard and left it there unlocked. A bunch of kids jumped fences that night and stole my bike easily. When i woke up it was gone. I know this is late notice and not well filled out but I just found this. I'll try to find some pictures of it

My bike was locked up Friday evening when I came home about midnight but Saturday morning it was gone. I suspect someone slipped inside the buildling somehow without a key and cut the cable lock and walked off with it. There is no trace of it, and the place where the bike had been stored is completely empty.

Someone unbolted the scaffolding i was tied to.

I locked up my bike in the morning in front of work, with only a cable lock because my U-lock broke (silly me for not immediately buying another U-Lock). When I left the building around 4:15, the bike was gone. It was very odd to look at the rack where it was locked up (next to Fannie May candies) and not see it any more. It was a large Trek 820 mountain bike, dark blue, with a silver bike rack on the back, a 'tandem' coupling on the back of the seat stem, and several white and red "Wahoo's Fish Tacos" stickers on the frame. It also had a "Village Cycle" sticker near the bottom of the frame. The bike was worth less than $300, but it was only 2 years old, and I certainly wasn't planning to get rid of it.

I went to class in UIC's Art and Architecture building off of Harrison Street. I arrived there at 1pm and didn't leave the building till 6:40pm. I locked my bike up to a metal railing right outside the main entrance and locked the two wheels, chain, frame and seat with Masterlock's Python lock. The lock was cut and left about 5 feet away near the handicap ramp. I had last seen my bike when I finished locking it up around 1:05pm that day so anytime between then and 6:40pm is when it could of been stolen.

Stolen from the pedestrian mall behind OPRFHS on election night while my son was at choir practice. REWARD will be paid for return.

Discovered my son's brand new bike that he got for his birthday in May was stolen from our garage (along with other items). Garage door was found open approximately 4" from ground / did not discover items missing for a week or so after I noticed garage door was ajar because our electricity was also cut and there were no lights in the garage. I will file police report after I can locate the purchase paperwork with serial number, etc.

i ALWAYS lock my bike up everywhere....except for my back porch. it's the top floor and i guess i'm too trustworthy of my neighbors who see me and my boyfriend always bringing our bikes up there. his was stolen as well and was worth much more...a black surly touring bike that he built up himself. i loved this bike so much. it was the first bike i became attached to.

My neighbors are pretty careless and like to leave the garage doors open. Over the course of a week it was missing. There's not much to tell except that I've had this bike since I was 9 and I want it back. Thanks!

I had ridden my bike and didn't lock it back up. It had a flat tire. It stays at my back door which is located on the side of my building which is gated. I noticed my bike was not there when I came home around 6 pm on November 13, 2008.
