Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was stolen overnight. I biked to my girlfriend's house, arriving at 12:45am, (the night of February 18th/morning of February 19th 2013); locked my bike to the stop sign off the corner of W Barry & N Pine Grove Ave, where I have been parking it almost daily without any problems for over two months now. When I left the house to head to work at 8:10am, the stop sign was lying on the ground, with a foot-deep hole in the ground surrounding the pole's base - the bike, the U-Lock, and the Kryptoflex cable were all gone. I can only assume the stop sign pole was removed from the ground, allowing for the still-locked bike to be loaded into a vehicle and transported somewhere that the lock & cable could be cut off slowly.

Somebody in my building left the back door unlocked. There was a sign on door at the bottom of the stairs that said, "PLEASE KEEP DOOR LOCKED AT ALL TIMES". When I noticed my bike was gone, the sign was also ripped off the door.

Bike was stolen while i was working. Right in front of Luke's Beef on Jackson downtown Chicago. Other bikes have been stolen from that location as well I learned, even from Luke's employees. Just bought the bike and dialed it in in January. Just lost my Job last summer as Peregrine went chapter 7, so any help locating it would really be appreciated!

Bike was taken between 4:15 and 11 pm from Hasted Orange Line station on Archer.

The bike is in my condo building garage near my car and attached to a wall mounted bike rack. The entire rack was removed (requiring tools of some type.) I noticed it missing when I returned from work Tuesday evening, but it could have been gone for 24 - 36 hours by then. Security at my building was unaware of anything occuring in the locked, secure entry garage. I do not know if the thief is therefore from within the building or somehow entered the garage from outside. (won't upload)

Bike was stolen from private garage. Electronic door was found open.

Just moved to new office location at 222 S.Riverside right by union station. Parked bike at bike rack on South side of Adams in front of sidewalk. Have been parking it for just a week when it was stolen.

My bike was locked to the gate outside my building when I left for work in the morning. When I returned, it was gone, along with my happiness. I have no idea how this happened - my guess is that the lock was not completely locked and was just frozen, so when the snow melted, it popped open. But I have no idea.

Bike was set out front for a few mins. When I came back out it was gone. Didn't see anyone making off with it. Saw a police officer and flagged him down.

I checked the storage room in my building this morning at 7 am and the bike was missing. The last time i used it was in early december. It was in a locked bike closet on the 4th floor of my building at 3225 w fullerton. Locked only to itself with a newer u-lock w/flat key.

The bike was locked into a bike storage room in my apartment which need a key and a fob to access. The storage room was located in the garage which is supposed to only open to residents who has the same fob to the bike storage room. According to the security video and the apartment management, the bike thief broke into the residential area by holding the door to the garage which was about to close after a couple of residents entered. The bike storage room was duck taped so that he can steal several bikes. My bike was one of them. All stolen bikes were locked by cables which the thief were able to cut.

I normally lock up my bike outside of school without any problems. It is an especially a high traffic area. I actually had not been riding for about a week b/c of cold weather but it was such an unusually warm january day, so i decided to ride. My bike was there from 12pm to about 7pm because I saw it when I left school for a snack across the street and it was still there. so the bike was stolen between 7pm and 9:30pm when I came out of school to find the bike missing without the lock.

I went out back and noticed it was missing. I don't know what might have happened to it.

Stolen from my garage sometime during the week of January 28, 2013. Discovered stolen Feb 2nd. Garage is shared with a neighbor who has left the door open a couple times in the past month.

Bike was locked under the SW stairs of the Western Blue Line stop to the orange Wicker Park/Bucktown Chamber of Commerce bike rack. I parked it there at 8am on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and when I got off the train today at 5:00pm it was gone. The lock was also missing. Bike has black fenders, front and rear light mounting brackets, small black bell, and a GoPro Hero Camera handlebar mount. I purchased the bike less than a month ago. This is the second robbery that has occurred to me at this location in the last month. Just before Christmas, my B-17 Brooks saddle was stolen off of another bike I ride. I filed the report with the CTA because there is a camera across the street from the bike rack.

Locked front wheel and frame to bike rack within sight of UIC-Halsted CTA station and outside CUPPA Hall @ Peoria street around 5:15 PM CST. Bike had completely vanished when I walked out to unlock it at 7 PM. Other bikes definitely still around, but no sign of my lock being cut or anything. If anyone even sees the frame, I'd really want it back.

I was in a hurry so i put my bike on the porch and ran in to grab something a let my dog out, was inside for about one minute and when i walked back outside it had been stolen.

On the night of January 24, I left my bike locked to itself (newer u-lock w/flat key) in my apartment building lobby, located at the intersection of Rockwell and Altgeld. Bikes are commonly left locked in this area of the lobby. I left this morning at 8:15am, and the bicycle was still there. Sometime between then and 4pm, the bike was stolen out of the building.
