Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was not locked to anything but was behind a locked door on the second story balcony. I suspect that someone with roof access from one of the adjoining buildings has taken it. The only other way someone could have stolen it was by shimmying across the balcony and throwing the bike down to the ground.

Used a cable lock instead of a u-lock for one day as I had lent out my u-lock. My guess is someone walked up and snipped it.

Bike was locked to a bike rack and another bike. Lock was cut through and left along with other attached bike.

This bike was stolen from a Chicago bike rack. They must have broken the U-Lock.

Bike was parked and locked in the CNA bike parking area at 7:30am and one my wya to lunch at 11:45 i noticed it wasn't there. I reported it to building security who was able to use cameras to see an individual ride in on a bike (wore a neon yellow vest, red/orange shirt, white baseball cap). This person was followed by someone on foot. The two looked around and began to work on the lock. The time was 11:01am. Once the bike lock was removed, the person on foot (white tee shirt and light brown pants) jumped on the bike and the two rode off.

I have had my bike locked up outside my apartment, on the railing that blocks off our garden from the sidewalk for about a week, and I have been using it on and off for that week. I had a kryptonite U lock that was attached to the frame and the front wheel. Whoever stole the bike tore up the whole metal railing to slide my bike off with the lock still intact. Other bikes may have been locked to it as well.

Someone most likely came by in several swoops and pretended to unlock the bike while they went to work getting through the cable. The seat of the bike next to mine was taken as well as the tire of another bike on the other side.

Bike was taken from my home, reward offered, sentimental value too. Bike had not seen the light of day for years, I recently took it in to a bike shop in Evanston for check up and it was taken less than a week later.Someone may have either listened to conversation at bike shop or followed me home and returned to take bike out of garage.

I believe that sometime during the day someone cut my lock (not a fantastic lock) and removed the kyrptonite cable and bike from behind my apartment's wrought iron fence. It's strange because the lock and everything was behind the fence so the person would likely have had to go down into my front porch area to cut the lock. It seems like passerby would have noticed this especially since my apartment is next to two very busy businesses: Starbucks and The Map Room.

OnGuard Bulldog U-Lock and Cable. U-Lock was sawed through (hack saw or cordless angle grinder) and left at scene. Cable was taken with bike. Parked bike at bank one bike on bicycle rack around 9pm. Came back out at 6am and bike was gone, lock on ground.

I fell off my bike and before going to the emergency room, I locked my bike up (with a U-lock). I was pretty out of it, so I don't remember exactly what I locked it to, but when I got back to the scene of the accident, my bike was gone. --- (Editorial note-- there's at least one "sucker pole", e.g. street sign that lifts right out, on Clark just south of North.)

Someone broke into our garage and stole our bikes. They also stole my husband's GT Road bike. We don't have the serial number or info on his b/c he bought it used about 5 years ago. They don't make GT Road Bikes anymore, so if you see his (silver w/ yellow writing) then my bike should be close by.

Bike was seen in the morning, locked up in my usual spot to a small tree right in front of my building. Later in the evening it was gone. The tree looks fine, the lock is gone.

I was inside the Eleven Street diner eating breakfast, came out, bike was gone. My car was parked in front of a police car! Bike rack appeared to be untouched, lock was missing, bungey cord was hanging from rack. I had the bike just one week. I anyone has any information whatsoever it would be appreciated, thanks!

Bike was locked by cable thru rear wheel only in a locked private garage. Garage was broken into (locked man-door forced) and rear wheel was left at scene. Bike gone and garage door to alley open.

Bike was stolen while I was inside Subway.

The bicycle was locked with a U-lock to a bracket designed for hanging bikes. The bracket was attached to a concrete pillar. The thief ripped the entire bracket off the concrete wall.

I left work to find my lock cut, on the sidewalk. The bike was stolen from a busy corner in front of the Sears Tower, on a workday, in broad daylight. I attempted to file a police report, but they would not allow me to file a police report without a serial number.

My building has an enclosed garage, inside of which there is a bike rack. This rack, however, is not sufficient for the number of bikes in the building, so there are 20-30 bikes left unlocked in the garage at any given time. I last ride my bike on the afternoon of May 16 and went down this afternoon (Sunday 5/31 3:00pm) to take it out and it was nowhere to be found. The area of the garage where the bikes are kept is not visible to people walking by the building, so I can only assume that it was taken by someone in my building.
