Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike is in a locked yard, out of easy view. Special bike frame, step through because I have mobility issues. Was locked with a strong lock, but to a wooden fence. Someone can in the night before 8:30 a.m. and broke the wooden fence, stole bike. There were two other bikes there, but they were not taken. I think it was targeted because it is a special kind of frame.

The bike lock was picked and stolen from our apartment storage room. The bike was secured with a 30lb chain w/unlock, it was chained to another bike. They picked the lock. We have pictures of the theives leaving with the bike.

Cable lock was cut and left at the scene. Happened between 7:45 AM and 8:30 PM.

A Marin Commuter bike was stolen from my garage at 2016 West Race Ave. The thief entered by breaking the side garage door lock and exiting with the bike through the car garage door via the alley.

Piper's Alley X Sport, Had bike locked in parking garage bike rack. Was gone for an hour, lock was cut and bike gone.

Bike locked w/ cable lock and U-lock to bike racks at 835 S Wolcott Ave on UIC medical campus. Locked at 4:05pm and discovered missing at 5:50pm. Picture is NOT OF ACTUAL BIKE but bike is identical save for black seat.

Bike was locked to bike rack in basement storage building of my multi-unit apartment building Friday night. Sunday morning I discovered bike rack had been destroyed and bike stolen (as well as front wheel of matching bike). Security footage from my building shows it was stolen at about 3:30-4:00am.

We were on vacation for 2 weeks so we're not sure when it was taken. Both my and my husbands 6ku bike were stolen.

During the night someone came up to our porch on the second floor, broke off the wooden railing with a larger piece of wood and stole my bike.

At about 4:50pm, I locked my bicycle to the metal rail under the steps of the exit of the Kedzie/Lake CTA station. This is the exit onto Lake street on the southern side of the road. I locked my bike with a key locked cable that I fed through the main frame of the bike and through the front tire and my helmet. I left to run through Garfield park for about 20 minutes and came back to find the cable had been cut and was left inside my helmet on the ground near where the bike had been. Strangely enough, there was a blue Denali road bike that was unlocked and essentially left in the same place as my bike. This Denali was not there when I had locked my bike.

The bike was locked to the metal gate, inside a locked courtyard.

Between 9:00 pm and 11:30 pm on July 13, 2018, someone trespassed onto our gated off condo property and stole a bike that was locked to a support beam in the area between the porches and garage.

The bike was up on the third floor back porch of our condo. Someone got through the back gate and came all the way up to the top to get it. I just had it worked on so it's in very good riding condition.

I had gone to drop off something and I hid the bike in a stair passageway to the point where it would be hard to see the bike from afar, and only see it if you go into the passageway . At 11:30PM when I noticed it was stolen, I had looked around Kosciuszko Park and the alleyways near it and I found no trace of the bike .

Bike stolen sometime the weekend of 7/7-7/9, discovered on Monday 7/9; last seen on 7/6.

Bicycle was at the location on July 11. Live on the second floor of a walk up and the bike was locked to a wooden rail on a back porch. Only access to the porch is a locked lower gate and two flights of stairs up. One of the wooden rails had been pried off the porch railing and the bicycle was slipped off with the lock.

I locked my bike at 7:30pm on 7/11/18 to a stop sign pole in front of my building that seems very secure. Pole cemented into sidewalk. At around 9:30-10pm i heard some noise out front (yelling, machine sounds) but didn't think anything of it at the time. I suspect that was when someone got my bike. I locked the front tire and frame (down tube- bike does not have a top tube) to the pole. When I came out of my building at 7:30am on 7/12/2018 to get my bike and ride it to the train station, I saw that it was gone. Stop sign and pole totally in place.

Bike was locked to a city bike rack along with another older bike. Single lock was used to secure frame, while Pitlock locks secured tires. Rack appears to have taken damage from cutting mechanism. Other bike remains attached.
