Condition of Bicycle / Distinguishing Features:
Bike was 1 year old. Purchased at Performance Bikes in Lincoln Park. Grey hybrid bike, 27 speed (3 in front and 9 in the rear). Had a Iberra bike rack attached in the rear. Had an embark bike pannier on it at the time it was stolen. Rear brakes are by the pedals instead of by the seat post under the seat. At the time of theft, riding the bike would result in a ticking noise. One distinguishing feature: I had a side mount kick stand on the rear chain stay which was screwed in. The screws sheared off and the stand fell off, but the chain stays screw holes still have remnants of sheared off screws in them.
Incident Description

Sidewalk in front of an open business.
How was the bike locked?:
Locked through front wheel and frame to object.
How long was the bike locked in this location?:
Incident Description:
I locked the bike to a street sign in the morning about 10:30am. I was hanging out at my girlfriend's place the whole day and came down at 7:30pm to find it missing. The bike lock was a longer than normal kryptonite lock. The lock was definitely cut with a saw, not snipped with large cable cutters or the like. The clean cut and lack of jagged edges seems to indicate that it was probably cut with a hand held battery operated automatic hack saw (a manual hacksaw would have left a variable pattern whenever the thief changed his position or cutting speed). The bike was locked at the corner of 31st and princeton across the front entrance from a restaurant called Franco's. The valet says he did not see anyone. I have been parking my bike there for the last year without incident.
