Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

We have a magnetically locked gate leading to our apartment. My bike was behind the gate. Sometime during the evening of September 10th my bike was taken from that area.

Bike was inside converted office building. Someone must have walked into the building, or pulled open a door that wasn't locked properly due to construction in the building and nabbed the bike.

Back gate left unlocked. Perpetrator walked into building and stole two unlocked bikes.

Bike was stolen by detaching the front wheel from the frame (the only time I have EVER forgotten to secure the lock around the wheel and the frame). The incident happened on a very busy street during the end of daylight/beginning of twilight and in only an hour. It would have been obvious to passers-by that the bike was being stolen as the thief would have wheeled away the bike on one wheel.

My bike was in my private hallway with other items and it was stolen there. Someone must have broken into the building.

I had gone to work in Lincoln Park, Upon arrival, I had placed my Sekai bike against the building that is next to my job. I simply went 10 feet away for a minute to text my boss and when I turned around my bike was gone. It was 5:30pm and was tired from riding and simply sat next to a building that had a stoop, I never imagined someone would ride off or walk away with my bike. I slightly got distracted by passerby's but I was away from my bike for no more than 10 min. I turned around after texting my boss and my bike was gone. I never heard anyone ride my bike away and I never imagined this would occur in broad daylight in Lincoln Park, Chicago!

Garage door was left open and bikes were stolen from our garage space at the corner of Albany and Armitage.

Bike was locked up inside of Orange Line Halsted station. The CTA worker said she didn't see anything unusual when she got on her shift at 10am. Someone picked my lock, took the bike and left the lock on the ground where other bikes were parked.

I had my bike on my friends fenced in patio. Someone had to climb over the 7ft fence to gain access to the patio and then lift the bike over the fence to abscond with it. It was not locked, so the lock did not need to be disabled. The lock is still attached

My bike was locked on a bike rack just east of the river on Jackson street, right next to the construction on Jackson. It was locked with the Kryptonite locking system--a new U lock attached to a cable to lock the wheels and frame. When I came out at noon, the bike was gone--the cable had been cut, and the cable and lock were left behind.

The bike was locked to the wood railing on my second floor back balcony. The thieves used a 2x4 (left it on our balcony) to pry the wooden slats off the deck and take the bike.

Bike was locked to a fence on the front of the building that protects the front windows of the building. Wheel was removed which allowed thief to pull frame up through the lock and the wheel.

Garage was rammed with a car and then pried open and up to get at the bikes.

It was in front of Quenchers (Fullerton and western). Gone when I left the bar.

I was out for dinner and a drink with my cohort, left my bike in front of the UIC urban planning school from 6 until around 1030. When I returned, the bike, and both cables that I had used to lock it, was gone. They must have had to cut through the cables, but they were gone, as well.

It was there at night, and gone in the morning.
