Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Came home to find two bikes missing from the garage. No sign of forced entry. Appears someone left the garage door open.

Bike was double locked in garage. Lock one was a U lock locked to the wall rack. Lock two was a master lock secured chain locked to a huge eyelet drilled into wall. They cut through the chain, defeating lock two and throough the rack defeating lock one. They took the bike away with the U Lock attached. Garage was breached by a faulty opener which opened after closing due to some faulty sensor. Picture is from the company site and not of my specific bike. Mine looks like this but more brown.

The bike was taken from a busy street around many residential apartment buildings. Having not found the lock or any evidence it was cut through (e.g. shavings), my best guess is that the One Way pole was unbolted and the bike slipped off or it was cut with a torch. The apartment I was had a clear view of the bike on the second floor and the windows open so loud noise (e.g. a saw, possibly even bolt cutters) would have possibly been heard.

Someone must have been watching me every morning when I ride and park my bike. I usually get to the Damen station at 6:40am and am one of the first bikes to park. I always park in the first spot. The bike racks are usually filled by 8am. I came back from work later that day and noticed there were two other bikes parked where I parked my bike. Someone HAD to have seen something. Especially that early. There is the coffee shop right across the street and it's parked in front of the CTA open door.

The picture above is outdated. The handlebars have been replaced with uprights and the air pump is no longer there.

Locked the U lock through front wheel and frame and it was under the stairs behind my building in the backyard. Whole thing was taken.

i left my bike at the front door to take a 10 minute break and get some water. when i went to leave I noticed it gone.

I woke up on Sunday to find my garage door open and the pink Schwinn bike stolen. Still havne't figured out how they opened the garage door as we also double check at night that its closed. The bike is a small ladies frame with the rack on the back. I just had a new seat installed (the seat was stolen the week prior). The brakes aren't working, so that would be a dead give-away that its mine.

Only the front wheel was U-locked to the fence, so the frame, along with the back wheel, were able to be stolen without removing the lock. Presumably the person just unscrewed the frame from the front wheel and made off fairly easily.

I'm pretty sure I heard the commotion as the cable was cut, but I didn't know what the noise was so I did not check until about half an hour later. There was supposed to be a new lock installed on the storage room door.

my bike was stolen from an enclosed back yard of a residence. the thief left their crappy bike in its place, propped open the back gate, and road away with my bike. (i hope it was at least difficult for them to ride a fixie).

Someone has had it in for my bike! Twice in two weeks, someone mangled my cable lock, as if they tried to break it from either end. I bought a thicker cable lock, and hadn't had any incidents in over a week (in retrospect, I clearly should have upgraded to a U-lock). Yesterday I rode it, and locked it as usual (through the wheel and the frame) to my building's metal fence. This morning, I went outside to find my bike and the lock gone.

Bad luck. I biked to Lolla, had my backpack stolen. Then had to leave my bike to go home and get bike lock key. SO I saw my bike on Sunday night at 11pm. Arrived this morning at 7:30am it was gone. I had a uLock through the front tire to the bike rack (I thought it was through the frame, but it must not have been) and another chain lock through the back tire attached to the ulock. The chain lock was cut and the front tire was all that was left.

My Schwinn Men's 700C Tourist 28" Road Bike was stolen from my backyard at 3400 S Aberdeen between the hours of 6pm and 8pm on August 5th, 2012. The perpetrator(s) knocked over the pole it was attached to, removed the top bar of the pole, and proceed to slide my locked bike, as well as another tenant's bike, over the pole. It had a Bell Gel Seat Cover (http://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/13833131?wid=300&hei=300), though that may have been removed. Any information is appreciated.

My bike was in my garage. Both entrances to the garage are locked. When I returned to my garage the bike was gone.

Two bikes stolen together from Navy Pier across from the main entrance. Security allowed me to view the security tapes along with CPD. In plain site, white male sitting in the grass watched me lock the bikes up and a while female walked up cut the lock and walked around for about 10 minutes. The white male stood up and walked off with one bike, while the white female immediately followed. All caught on tape. Looks to be a regular operation. I will be returning to the area on and off over the next few weeks and watch to see if this happens again. I just bought the two bikes 2 weeks ago.

Bike was locked securely (new U-Lock) to a bike rack under the Metra tracks at the 59th street station on Friday 8/3/12, around 7:30pm. Two days later, on Sunday 8/5/12 at 6:30pm, the bike, along with the U-Lock, is gone. There are a few scratches on the bike rack, but I'm not sure if that's relevant.

I locked my bike to a parking sign post, and only discovered when I came back that the sign was only stuck in a hole in the ground, no cement or other mounting. I assume the pole was slipped though the lock and then put back where it was. In short, I got duped.
