Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was stolen outside the starbucks in the Fienburg Pavilion at Northwestern Hospital. The lock was cut (clean cut) and left at the scene. The other bike locked to the post wasn't taken.

My attic apartment was burglarized on 11/3/11 sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. They came in through the window, but carried everything out through the back door, so there shouldn't be any obvious damage to the bike.

Must have been stolen. I've locked it to the same place for weeks.

I can only imagine that someone had a cable cutter and they cut the cable and ran with the bike. It was surprising because the front of FFC on Clinton is very busy at 5PM. They must have been very fast. Clerks in the front of FFC did not report seeing anything unusual. As a matter of fact, one of them has their bike parked out front as well.

Because our apartment building is locked from the outside, I suspect it was stolen by a friend of one of my neighbors. This is unusual, however, considering all of the residents of the building socialize together regularly, save a few. Moreover, all of the residents and all of their bicycling friends store their bikes in this same hallway. What makes this theft especially strange is that my bicycle was definitely not the NICEST in the hallway - infact it was unridable due to the hub being broken. Although, my bicycle was definitely the NICEST LOOKING; the rest being mostly utility bikes in plain colors with standard parts. I suspect whomever stole it did so in order to sell the parts rather than ride it him/herself.

The bike was left out for the weekend, I usually bring it inside and the next day when I went to go ride my bike to school the bike was gone with the lock.

The image is of a generic giant seek 2 but mine was nearly new so it looked a lot like that. The only difference is that mine also had black fenders on it, no kick-stand. It was locked up outside with a newer u-lock w/flat key. when I went in to work for a couple hours. As of 1:30 it was there because I went out to lunch then. When I came back at 2:30 it was gone. Thieves had dismantled the street sign and stolen it lock and all.

One of my friends saw my bike at its usual location just after noon. It had been parked there since 9:00a. When I left work at 5:15p the bike was gone.

I had cable thru frame and both wheels and pretty sure I had secured to bike rack. If so, then cable probably cut. If I mistakenly missed the rack when weaving the cable, bike could easily been lifted and taken.

I was stuck without the key to my lock so I had no choice but to hide my bike under the bushes. It was very hidden, but when I came back to get it it was gone.

Somebody came and uprooted the parking sign in front of my apartment. After that they just took the bike along with the lock.

Bike was locked in basement of my building. Person has been breaking in past several weeks and stole several bikes (bldg. didn't mention this until after my bike was gone). I do not have much information other than it was a gray, large size (I am 6'2") Giant Cypress men's hybrid that did not have the nice seat with post-shock. If it comes up for sale, plese contact me. Was stolen in past week. The area is supposed to be very secure. There is someone with a few extra bikes for sale out there...one of them is my Giant.

U-lock was sawed through. A saddle was stolen from another bike locked to the same fence.

The bike was locked with a new u-lock to a thick beam on my back porch. Someone came with a saw in the middle of the night and cut off the beam so they could take the bike. The post is missing as well as the bike. Wow.

Someone left the gate to my courtyard unlocked. Someone came in, found the unmarked door to the stairwell, took bike and walked out.

My bike was stolen from the Western blue line stop near western and Milwaukee. Locked with U-lock.

Somebody must have watched me dismount and secure the bicycle. Then waited for me to go into a nearby restaurant and made the hit. Was inside for one hour only to return to no bike.

Locked my bike at work with a U-lock. Security cameras show man riding his bike through parking lot. Then he returns on foot to steal my bike. His face was covered. Coward and jerk.

Worked on bike evening before. Went to bed, woke up and went to work. Did not look for bike at that time. Came home from work to notice bike missing.

Bike was locked to rack in garage of Park 1500 lofts. There are numerous bikes at this location. Several appear to be missing. Newer U-Lock w/flat key must have been picked because lock is still attached to the rack, but my key no longer works
