The bike had a black rack mounted, it was missing a rear reflector, but had the front one. The brake cables were not cut, but taped to the outside of the frame. The brakes were pretty worn. Otherwise the bike was pretty new looking - essentially about 4 months old.

Incident Description:
This bike and other bikes has been stored overnight in the stairwell of my apartment building for years without incident. Access to the building and stairwell requires a key. I had left my bike locked in THE GARAGE OF MY OWN APARTMENT BUILDING, TWELVE TWELVE ON SOUTH MICHIGAN. It was attached to a metal pole in the first floor along with other bikes. I had not used it for about a month before the first time I realized it was missing. The lock was a TREK (by Kryptonite) Street-Wise U lock. I found it locked back in the same position, without signs of being forced. There is no security camera pointing to that spot, but there is a security camera that registers entrance and exit through the front garage door, though there is at least 4 other ways to get out of the garage.

i went to go see a friend who was struck by a car on her bicycle, and is in rehab for it. when i came back, everything was gone. i had smoked a cigarette before going inside, and naturally checked over everything, it was all secure, and there was a bolt with nut through the signpost. when i came back, there was still a bolt with a nut on it at the bottom of the signpost. i can only assume that someone came along, decided they wanted it, and had a wrench, and lifted up the signpost.

Again, I am near certain I know which garage it went into because I simply looked for tracks in the snow. It is one of two garages right near my back side alley entrance. I called 911, they said they would come, and 30-35 minutes later, I was freezing and had to get to dinner with my family so I left. A Neighbor let me look in garage. It was not there but one car of a trucker was also not there? It was not visible from the sidewalk, I heard a garage or gate door opening when i got there to rush to get my bike lock, at most 3 minutes gone.
