Witnesses say a black man wearing blue shorts and a stripped shirt just walked off with the bike like it was his. Right in front of restaurant. with medium traffic. On Wells Ave. at Chicago. Perpetrator was said to have headed south on Wells Ave.

I regularly locked my bike to the metal hand rail of a bench in my yard. I may have accidentally left the bike unlocked, but it seems very unlikely. The bike was locked in the same place for over 2 weeks without incident. I'm usually visibly present around my house so maybe someone saw me come home on the bike and leave by foot this afternoon and decided to scope out the scene.

My bike was locked up behind my house with a U-lock to a wooden railing attached to my porch. This is adjacent to the alleyway and the parking area for my building. I found this morning that the railing had been broken in some way (not sawed through) and my bike was missing. It could have happened overnight or this morning before noon.

BIKE STOLEN FROM PATIO WITHIN 10 MIN

Bike frame was locked with a newer U lock to an iron fence post inside gated front yard. Iron fence post was cut in half with some sort of bolt cutter or tool. This is the second incident on this property within 2 months in which the bike was stolen by someone entering the gated front yard and using some type of tool to cut through the iron fence post and steal the bike.

Bike was locked through both wheels and frame to the bike rack, under the Irving Park Brownline CTA stop. New Kryptonite key cable lock, no sign of it or how they cut through it. It was taken between 3pm and Midnight.

Happened in front of Lukes / Subway on the South side of the Jackson. Mini Kryptonite U-lock was ground in half and thief rode off (per eyewitness). Eyewitness claims that thief was tall black man with dreads and was carrying portable grinder in messenger bag.

It was on the back porch which leads to a parking lot of a restaurant and into an alley. Someone came up and took the bike.

Stopped in for a quick bite at Birchwood Kitchen (window seat just outside my line of sight!) the bike was stolen not 10 feet away from me while I read my book and had a salad...becoming the most expensive salad I have ever purchased. Im assuming whoever stole it was a professional or at least someone who works with wire cutters. The lock was cut clean through and it was done fast, couldn't have taken them more than a couple minutes, street traffic was everywhere and it was in full daylight.

I kept my bike locked in my garage. Only myself, my roommates, the landlord, and a tenant that neither myself nor my roommates knew about have a key to the garage. I think that this mysterious tenant is likely responsible, but I suppose someone could have picked the lock. I left for a week-long vacation. When I returned I found the garage door wide open. The lock was not broken and looked unharmed. My bike was gone but the thief left my helmet and steel cable. A U-lock was attached to the bike, but I have the keys.

The Bike was attached to a fence where many other bikes are locked up, just steps from a bus stop. With a strong U-Lock. I'm confused because I've kept my bike there daily for the last year or so. I appreciate any help from anybody.

Bike verified on rack before Thanksgiving travel. Returned to bike missing from rack post-Thanksgiving travel. Other bikes on rack apparently unharmed. Best guess is that thief(s) had time to work on lock when AT&T was installing cable into the multi-unit building, leaving garage door open for an extended period.

Bike photo attached, without automotive part stickers on top bar of frame. I believe a person related to a neioghbor stole the bike. It couldn't be seen from the street, so only someone that had been on the property would know it was there.

Left bike locked to bike rack among several dozen others on high traffic corner outside of hospital for 25 minutes. Upon return, lock was cut and left behind and bike stolen along with helmet.

I locked my bike under the bridge at the clybourn metra stop for fear that it might rain today. I locked the bike at 8am to a solid metal bike rack on Ashland Ave. under the bridge at the clybourn stop. While locking my bike to the rack, a man dressed in khakis, white t-shirt and tie asked if would be okay to lock his bike to my cable (used in conjunction with my U-lock for securing rear tire). He mentioned he was going downtown for an interview and would be back in a few hours. I said no problem as he had a mini U-lock and looked as though he was frustrated trying to fit it on a nearby poll. My bike was secured through the front tire and rim as well as with the cable lock thru the rear tire and frame. I am not sure if this person is related to bike being stolen or if his bike was also stolen, he had an old schwinn. I returned to the scene at 5:42pm only to find my bike missing, as well as the cable and U-lock no where to be found.

I went in the CVS to buy a soda and when I got there I realized I forgot my lock So I propped it against the bike rack and went in I didin't think anyone was around that would notice it wasn't locked in a couple of minutes then I realized couldn't see it anymore from inside. It took longer than I expected to get rung up and then it was gone I borowed a bike and rode around the area and saw nothing. Dumb mistake I know

Bike was locked to a post of a railing on the 3rd floor landing. Bike was not easily visible from the sidewalk or the courtyard, so assuming the bike had been cased. Discovered bike was missing Monday morning (7/19). The post had been pulled from the railing, and the thief slid the lock (and the bike) up off of the post once it was separated from the railing. Marks on the post show that it had been tampered with. It's also now separated from the banister...though it appears some attempt was made to screw the post back in?

locked to a street sign on the sidewalk outside the movie theater with another bike that was already locked to it. used an onguard pitbull mini u-lock with a security cable through the front wheel. left bike at 9:30pm, came out at about 1am and both bikes were gone from the street sign.

Bike was stolen sometime during the night. A 3/8" cable through both wheels with u-lock, looped around 4x4" porch support pole. Cable most likely was cut and taken along with the bike and u-lock. Bike had been stored in this location (under a side-porch/basement entrance) and was hidden from sidewalk/alley view for approximately 8 months Frame, etc... in great condition. some minor hardware such as brake cable conduit ends had minor surface rust. Working condition of bike excellent, all gears, brakes, etc worked fine.

I locked my bike to a bike rack on the NE corner of Clark and Division, which is the quiet, dark, less-traveled corner of an otherwise busy intersection. It was parked next to another bike, in front of a closed business. I was gone for no longer than an hour. When I returned, the bike was gone, along with the kryptonite U lock and cable too. Not a spoke remained. I can't remember exactly how I locked my bike that evening, but, often, when I won't be long (as in this case) and/or the bike rack is crowded, I will just wrap the kryptonite cable around the bike rack and front wheel and frame - the U lock I lock on the frame only. Meaning, the thief just had to cut through the cable in order to take off with the bike. My guess is that is what happened here.
