Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen from indoor second floor parking garage of 1200 w Monroe. Bike was locked with cable and padlock around cement column. Left Saturday morning for a wedding and came back Sunday evening to find it missing.

Bike was locked to a pole at 540 W Belmont Ave near the corner with Broadway. Sometime between 1-4pm on 6/26/16, someone cut the lock and stole the bike.

Bike was left in locked residential area but gone overnight

The bike was last seen inside my apartment around 7 pm. The next morning I went outside my back door to my enclosed porch (that is also locked) and noticed it wasn't there. It happened sometime between 7 pm Saturday and 12:30 am Sunday. My neighbors said when they returned home 12:30 am Sunday they noticed the back door was wide open, which tells me it was taken before then. Our lock may have been popped open or the door was left wide open but no damage to the dead bolt lock so one of those 2 scenarios is all I can think of. Seeing a wide open back door from the alley is inviting so it's likely this may have been the case and the thief decided to go up to the second level of the porch and located my more expensive bike then. Another bike was not stolen, and it was on the stairs leading up to the second level. Police report number pending.

The theft would have had to climb a ~10ft *locked* gate in order to access the bike, or would have had to gain entry via someone that lives within the apartment complex. My bike was locked to a second bike with both a U-Lock (frame to frame) and a cord (through the rear wheel). The second bike was secured with a U-Lock and cord to a thick metal pipe on the outside of the apartment complex.

Friends and I had all ridden to a movie in the park, came home and all locked up to iron fence in front of my apartment together - four bikes total locked up in very close proximity to each other (one even above mine) We all hung out on stoop till late evening/early morning hours - likely about 2:30m. Downstairs neighbor was up until about 4am with windows open, in her front room (5 feet from fence/bikes) and didn't hear anything - either wildly quiet/proficient thieves or this happened after 4am. Mine was the only bike stolen, suspect it's because mine was the flashiest in appearance.

after my time off work I went out with the keys in my hand looking for my bike and from afar I saw another bike that was in the place where I left mine, as I approached I notes that it was not there, there were more than 30 bicycles and I checked for mine but it was not there, I searched the ground and I found the chain broken, there was no other trace, only that

Taken from my buildings basement storage area. Shame on me for not securing it, trusting the building, but also shame on humanity.

garage door was left open briefly and during that short time bike was removed from the Grarage

Garage break in, 2 bikes were stolen. Silver Trek FX 7.2 Woman's & 1991 Trek 930 Mountain Bike (purple - green fade)

Someone was able to open a metal back entrance door to the basement in my apartment building and took it from there.

I left this morning at 11am and the bike was still there. It's kept at the end of a hall next to my apartment tucked behind the stairwell. Door to stairwell from outside usually kept locked. No sign of break-in. They left my helmet and rock behind. Kept my Kryptonite cable.

The bike thief walked into the bookstore I was in, waited until I was busy with the clerk, and took my bike, traveling south on Milwaukee avenue. Thief description: Hispanic male, height: 5'7" - 5'9", weight: 150-165 lbs, age: 40 years old, clothing: blue sleeveless shirt, dark shorts, baseball hat, black and white basketball shoes

Bike stolen directly in front of Lincoln Square Athletic Club. Was locked to a bike rack with cable lock. Thief was able to open lock .

Bike was in a locked room within the garage in my apartment building. The door to the bike room itself is locked with a code and so is the garage door. The garage is staffed 24/7. The bike itself was not locked. The theft had to of occurred between 5PM Jun 16 and June 20 5PM
