Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen from my garage. They kicked open the side door to the garage which was locked with a deadbolt. Bike was stolen with u-lock, cable and helmet (giro, yellow and black, live strong). Bike has a rear hitch for a trailer and an orange crate on the back with two reflectors.

Returned to friend's home last night where we fell asleep. We had placed our bikes in the garage and locked the garage. Unfortunately, I was tired and did not lock my bike inside the garage as I normally would have. When I awoke this morning to ride home, the side entry door to the garage was wide open and my bike was gone.

We were in Peggy Notebeart Museum with our children. We know what happened b/c my husband actually happened to be looking out the upstairs window when he saw two males (his guess was they were Hispanic men, shorter hair cuts between 18-30 years old) running with bikes that looked like ours. He ran out of the building and found that it was our bikes and that they were gone--they cut through the lock, left nothing. The bike next to ours was missing parts as well.

Apparently a regular occurrence at the Metra station. My better lock was lost, and I was using a cheaper cable lock. The South side of the tracks has a commuter bicycle parking area along a throughway with a park and a church where plenty of folks park bicycles using the racks. On any day, there are 8+ bicycles parked there on that side. The ticketing station is on the opposite side of the tracks. No security at the location; the lockers are all leased already. No evidence of the theft was left. However, I parked at 7:30a and did not return until 5:40p so I do not know the exact time of theft nor if the cable was cut and later cleaned up as trash.

Bike was parked arm's length behind a bench that my grandparents were sitting at. Caucasian male, around 5'4" got on the bike and took off.

Bike wast stolen out of an underground condo garage that was contained by both a garage door and external gate. Bike in like-new condition, had minor paint scratches. Also attached red plastic bottle cage and clamp on rear platform.

At Navy Pier with my daughter. Locked our bikes together to a bike rack using a "Word Lock" cable. Came back after an hour and my bike was gone. The thief cut through the cable. I reported it to police on duty at the scene. They said that thieves target bikes locked with cables and is common at Navy Pier.

I got home from work early and left my bike U-locked to a sign post across the street from my apartment building since I was planning on leaving again in a couple of hours. When I went back outside less than 2 hours later, it was gone.

I was staying at my girlfriends place, I chained it up to the metal railing on the steps. (I don't usually park it there overnight.) I last saw it at midnight and found the chain lock chopped and bike gone at 7am the next morning. Note: Picture is a stock photo.

Bike sat with another black, trek male's mountain bike [also stolen]. They were underneath a staircase behind a locked gate in a back alley entrance, but faced the parking lot of the adjacent building. Best I can assume is someone saw it from within the adjacent parking lot, hopped the fence, and walked out.

Locked the bike up, got on a train. Came back...bike gone. Lock nowhere to be found.

Bike sat with another white, schwin female's mountain bike [also stolen]. They were underneath a staircase behind a locked gate in a back alley entrance, but faced the parking lot of the adjacent building. Best I can assume is someone saw it from within the adjacent parking lot, hopped the fence, and walked out.

Bike was unlocked on my 2nd floor balcony -- balcony is ONLY accessible through my apartment, which is on the second floor. Apartment was not broken into, so clearly a ladder was used or somehow the individual climbed onto my balcony and removed the bikes to, possibly, another party below. ****BIKE WAS STOLEN THE SAME TIME AS MY OTHER BIKE (YELLOW/ORANGE TREK 1000 WITH RED GRIP AND BLACK AERO BARS)****

I left my bike locked at the train station overnight with a Kryptonite Evolution Mini locked to just the frame (the wheels were secured using locking skewers that only I have the key for). I came back the next morning and it was gone, along with the lock.

Bike was unlocked on my 2nd floor balcony -- balcony is ONLY accessible through my apartment, which is on the second floor. Apartment was not broken into, so clearly a ladder was used or somehow the individual climbed onto my balcony and removed the bikes to, possibly, another party below.

Cable cut one of two bikes stolen

My bike was stolen off the 3rd floor back porch of an apartment complex in Wicker Park. I believe the person must have climbed through our back fence and walked up all three flights of stairs to reach our porch. It was taken during the loud thunderstorm. U-Lock is still attached on the front.

Someone entered through the alley after forcing our gate open. They stole my 60's green schwinn collegiate. It had a cable lock through the frame and front wheel but was not attached to anything else.

I locked the bike up at 5:30 PM; when I returned at 8:30 it was gone, and my water bottle was on the ground.
