Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike was locked to a wall mounted bike rack in a limited access basement garage in our condo building. There were other more expensive bikes in the area similarly secured. The only way to access the parking garage is through the lobby of the building or through the overhead garage door. Both entry points are secured by an HID key fob, however it is possible that someone could sneak in after a car enters the garage and before the door automatically closes again.

Here then gone. Cable cut, left at scene. Miss my bike, my basic transportation.

Forgot to close the garage door when I went to run an errand. I was gone 45 minutes. The bike was gone upon my return.

I locked my bike in front of my building (literally in front of the window where the doorman looks out of) on Wednesday (May 30th) around 6pm. I locked the bike around a street sign that was secure (as in in the ground solidly) around the spoke and the frame. The wheel is quick-release, so I always lock around the frame and the wheel. I arrived just now (Friday, June 1st around 8:15pm) to find the lock (an OnGuard hefty ULock with a flat key), completely in tact and locked, and no signs of the bike. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated. It's a pretty distinctive, somewhat girly bike, with a lower seat and ride (because I'm shorter). So, if you see a dude riding it, it would look...very strange. Thanks!

Bike locked outside of condo..stolen w/in hr of locking it up.

Bright Orange Vilano Bike was stolen in broad daylight in front of Wee Care Pre-school on Pine Grove. Lock was taken along with bike. Retail cost of bike is $599.99

Someone saw the bike on the patio and just lifted it. I fell asleep early because I had to get up early for work and completely forgot to bring it into the apt. When I woke up at 5am I immediatly went to look and saw that it was missing. Thank you .

2 bikes were locked together & to the metal fence at the Marina Towers bike parking area under the East Tower on the Plaza level between the House of Blues and the Marina Towers. In the morning my bike and our lock were both gone, but my husband's tall bike was still there.

Returned home at 3am to fin missing

I work at the restaurant across the street, and lock up my bike at the same parking sign every day while I am at work, because it is visible from inside the restaurant. I did not notice that it was missing until I left to go home at the end of my shift, between 11:30 and midnight

Bike was locked with a Cable lock around the front tire, bike frame and steet pole and connected to a U-Lock that was wrapped around the back wheele and bike frame. When I walked out 4 hours later the bike was gone with nothing left to show for it. Criminal most likely clipped the cable lock and took the bike with the U lock still locked on the back frame...Put it in truck and left. Also very unique because my bike and other bikes were locked on this same pole and other poles next to it and only mine was stolen.

We were moving from one house to another. Our garage door had been closed and our movers had just moved one bike into the garage. Either our movers had opened the garage door and someone saw the bike from the alley way and and stole it or someone came onto the property through an unlocked side gate, opened the garage door and took it out through the open garage door. When I came into the garage later I saw the garage door half way open and many items in the garage but one bike was missing.

Locked up the bike on my brothers front porch and came back the next morning and the lock was cut through and bike was missing.

Locked bike to rack in front of doors to dePaul student union. Went to use fitness center across the street. When I came back, bike was gone.

Someone spotted the bike in our yard and came in and took it.

Left bike behind locked gate and when I returned a few hours later, it was missing.

Bike was locked to a wooden board of the building, which was broken by the person (newer u-lock w/flat key). Thank you.

Locked the bikes to the bike rack infront of theater, they were locked to each other through the front and back wheel and to the bike rack. It was in the middle of the day between 5-8 p.m. It was a busy street and I am not sure how they got the bikes without anyone looking.

Bike was in my back yard behind a 6.5 foot tall privacy fence, it was locked to the railing on my back porch with a newer u-lock w/flat key. Porch was torn apart and lock was slid off of porch railing. lock may still be attached to bike.

I locked my bike to a bike rack right in front of the windows of the bar/concession area of the Logan Theater. Since it was heavily lit, in front of so many windows with people inside, the back tire was flat, and I was in a hurry I only locked the frame of the bike to the post with a (decent) cable lock. I also locked my helmet along with it. When I came out of the movie my BIKE, LOCK, AND HELMET were all gone. :( My bike is bright yellow, paint is scratched where the lock sits (see in picture). There is a small black sticker under the seat post. My front light stand was also on the handlebars. There is a reflector the spokes of the front wheel. Everything is in working order otherwise.
