Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I rode my bike to work and left it inside the back room, near the rear exit. It was there all night, except when I was ready to ride home, it was gone. I had no idea anyone would come inside and take my bike. Unfortunately for me the video surveillance was not recording.

I locked my bike to the front racks at East Bank Club. I came out maybe 6 hours later and the bike was gone. The lock was left. I have absolutely no idea how they got it out, but it is a high trafficked area and it was in broad daylight. It was by no means the "best" bike there and I had a Kryptonite lock on. All I can imagine is that they quickly got through the wheel and disassembled the bike while looking like they belonged in the area. I will offer a substantial reward if anyone can recover it!

bike was stolen from in front of my office by a man with a cordless saw and have him and his parter driving a light blue early 90's Toyota Previa Van with triangle rims. also have picture of him from surviellance video.

locked within 10 feet of freont door at jewel. right in front of people and cameras. my u lock broke so I have been using a thick cable. It was cut. I was in the store for 20 minutes. waiting to see tapes but jewel says they can clearly see entire incident but I cant see. Either way it was stolen at noon on thursday the 24th from Jewel at 3531 n. broadway chicgo, il.

After coming back from work I left my bike locked to itself with a U-lock, under the apartment in the storage area, the next morning it was all gone, someone broke in through the door that it is on the street that is on the side of the building where the garbage is located.

Bike was stolen from the back of my apartment building, the cable that I used to secure it to a metal fence had been slightly worn (purposefully it seems) a few days before.

Garage door was left open and the bike was taken.

Bike was locked in locked fence area behind US cellular. Garbage cans were stacked to allow thief to hop over fence and get bike back over it. U-lock was locked to frame and rear wheel.

Someone stole bike in the middle of the night with the lock.

the cable lock was around the big wooden post and attached with the ulock. the cable lock was flat-out cut with bolt cutters. it was inside a locked gate behind my apartment and no other bikes around were taken. it smacks of having been cased, but had only been out of storage for a few days. it is possible someone in my apartment did this - having seen it in the storage area and waited until i moved it outside for the season.

Bike was locked to wall (hanging) bike rack inside of the Skokie Swift Dempster terminal, 10 feet from the glass-walled attendant's booth. Attendant is on duty at all times, but roves about the termina.l I used a heavy combination Kryptonite cable lock, weaving it through both wheels, the frame, and the wall mount loop, as well as through my Bell helmet. As always, I carefully checked that the cable had indeed passed through correctly and that the combination was scrambled--I was in no sort of rush that day. This was at about 8:15am. When I returned at around 8:30pm, bike, lock, and helmet were gone. No debris was to be found below the rack. A search of nearby garbage bins turned up no traces of lock or helmet, or pieces thereof. I called Skokie PD immediately and officer Klamer (Star #247) took the report and issued me an incident referral card. Security attendant (not a CTA employee) claimed he had not seen or heard anything since he had begun his shift a few hours previously. The next day I quizzed the CTA afternoon attendant, who noted that, although she had had several distractions, including an elderly client falling down in a turnstile and requiring medical help and a fire in a planter pot outside, she had noticed no odd sounds or actions, and seen no suspicious activity around the bike racks. The following day I asked the morning attendant, who also claimed to have seen nothing. There are no video cameras in the Swift Dempster terminal--the only station in the CTA train system where that is true, I am told.

Shared Garage. The Door was left open.

I locked it to the no parking sign in front of my apartment at 11:00 PM. I got up for work at 5:00 AM and it was gone. Bike lock had to be cut because the sign is in tact and I locked the front wheel and frame to the sign.

Bike was in a busy area in the middle of the day.

I was working out at the fitness center. I arrived at around 2:45 and went back outside to get my bike around 5:30. The bike and lock were gone from the front of the building. I think someone cut the lock and put the bike and cut lock into their car and drove away.

The bike was stolen from the back deck of our condo while we were on vacation. It was locked to the deck with a U-lock. We live in a gated area which the perpetrators must have entered and then they dismantled part of our deck to free the bike. We do not know exactly what day this incident occurred.

I parked my bike on the bike rack between two buildings at Rush University Medical center between 10a and 2:10p. The bike rack was full and I only had room to lock the bike from the wheel and fork :( Someone must have noticed that I didn't lock my bike at the frame. My bike lock (A U-lock) was left but my bike was gone. It's a "rootbeer" Trek bike that has a lot of sentimental value. Please help.

i came home at midnight and both bikes were there in garage, the next morning when i came to the car garage both bikes were missing this was around 9am, both helmets gone and lock. there wasn't any signs of broken doors or open garages. i'm so sad so if you find a blue bike and pink helmet and a red bike with helmet please report back to me

The bike was locked to a city bike rack underneath the Metra over pass, right next to the Healy Metra Stop on Fullerton and Central Park. I locked it with a U-Lock, through the frame, the front wheel, and used a cable lock through the back wheel. The only fault was that I left the bike overnight there because I did not take the train home at night, and I forgot to get it. When I returned to the Metra station this morning, my bike was gone. There are usually about five other bikes parked there on a daily basis, and its a busy area, but at night it I can imagine someone having the time to saw through the lock, even though it is in a public area.
