Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bicycle was left locked inside of car, back window was broken and bike was [somehow] dragged out. Another bicycle [Silver Fuji with black deepVs was also stolen out of the back of the car. The car had been parked there the previous night, but driven around during the day. Usually the bikes were kept inside or in the garage.

I was using a Kryptonite series New York Fahgettaboudit 1410. As far as I know, it has the highest security rating. I have seen videos of people cutting through them with very large cutters, but I really can't say for sure what happened. There is no evidence of there even being a burglary--no shavings on the ground, no lock or pieces left behind--they took the bike, the New York disk lock and the 15lb steel chain. This is the second time in a month a Kryptonite lock has failed me. I purchased the bike October 1st with the lock. The rack it was attached is where all the other tenants lock their bikes--mine was the only one stolen--again. It is definitely a noticeable bike and I hope it can be found.

I went to the Bucktown Pub and locked my bike to the rack with several other nice bikes. when I came out a few hours later the bike was on the ground with no wheels and several nice new scratches. I hope who ever took my wheels falls of their bike and knocks their front teeth out or at least gets something caught in their chain.... like their face!

I came outside after being inside my friends house for 30mins and my bike was gone.

I locked my bike to a parking sign, through the front tire and front tire frame, around 8am. My roommate came home around 6pm and locked his to mine temporarily. When he was going to leave at 6:45pm, both bikes were gone, leaving the front tire and u-lock only. The thieves also left a yellow and black helmet in the street.

Bike was locked with Kyrptonite New York, with Kyptonite lock on front wheel as well. Under Ravenswood metra.

Bike stolen from racks in front on building. Security guard last patroled the area at 3:00 and did not see any broken locks. When I exited the building at 5:30, the lock had been cut.

two bikes were left for about a month in our fenced-in backyard in Wrigleyville. Only one was stolen- the blue men's 21-speed cruiser, while the other one, an aluminum frame road bike, was left behind. Whoever came also tried to break into the house and almost took our doorknob off.

Bike was locked to a crowded bike rack in front of the school at the beginning of school day. Bike was missing at the end of the school day along with the lock. Assumed someone opened or forced the lock and took the bike.

Bike was locked to bike rack in front of Bank of America on busy LaSalle Street with 2 cable locks -- one thru front wheel and frame, the second (cable & padlock) through the seat tube to the bike rack. Bike and both cable locks were gone before noon.

I locked my road bike up to a bike rack from the front wheel to the frame. The Ulock and the bike were gone.

I locked my bike on a bike rack at 9am, through both tires with a Kryptonite Cable and then an OnGuard u-lock through the cable, and locked the frame to the bike rack. When I came back to my bike after work, around 5:15pm, my cable was cut, lock was still there but bike was gone. I am POSITIVE I locked the frame to the bike. I don't understand how the lock is still there though!!

bike was stolen out of the garage at my place of employment. There was no one in the garage at the time and the thief walked in, took it and rode off.

Bike was locked at the loading dock at my work building -- it's indoors but has easy outside access. There is security, but the bike racks are not visible from all areas. Unfortunately no cameras, and since it is indoor/outdoor is apparently considered City of Chicago and not MMPI property. Locked it up in the morning and it was gone by 5 when I came back down for it.

I locked my bike up in front of simon's and left it there because I was too drunk to ride home. A day later I went to retrieve my bike and it was gone!

Bike locked to end of rack through frame and rear wheel with newer u-lock with flat key. End of rack was broken and bike removed. Bike wouldn't have been rideable since the lock was through tire and frame with 4 ft line through front tire.

Both bolted-on wheels were removed from the bike (frame was locked with a newer u-lock with flat key) between 10pm and midnight Sunday, Oct. 3rd.

I have been parking my bike at this location for 4 years. I attached the bike front wheel and frame to the bike rack with a u lock around 6 am on 10/4. When returning after working a 24 hour shift, the bike was missing from the location along with the bike lock. For the attached picture, the bike is photographed upside down as I performed maintenance on it before a triathlon in 2008. The aerobars were not attached until 2009.

The bike is usually kept on the enclosed back proch of our apartment building along with 3 other bikes - one of which belongs to the neighbor. Those bikes are still there. The building has 9 units on three levels, all have access to each other's porches via the back entrance which is locked. The bike was stollen somewhere between midnight and 11am, Tuesday 10/05 and can be possibly be narrowed to between the hours of 8:30 and 11am since my wife left aroung 8:30am and didn't notice it missing.

Thiefs broke into garage and stole bikes.
