Bike was locked to a metal light pole in front of nail salon on Milwaukee Ave near New Wave coffee

I parked my bike at 800 S wells, Chicago on the street on the evening 6:00 pm of July 9th 2015. The bike and the front wheel were locked with a old U-lock to he bike rack on the street. I have been parking at this place for a couple of months now. When I went to pick it up from the spot on July 10th at 7:45, the bike was missing.

Left my bike unlocked on my second floor balcony porch of a three-story condominium complex. From the back alley three-story wooden staircase, someone jumped over the wooden railing to gain access to my locked back porch and grabbed the bike and walked down two flights of stairs. I found the baseball cap that was attached to the bike frame further down the alley; I'm assuming they rode down the alley heading northbound after disposing of any unique identifiers. It was broad daylight outside and I was in my apartment when the bike was stolen.

I locked up the bike at the bike rack in the northwest corner of the Lincoln Park parking lot next to the Benjamin Franklin Monument. I spent about one hour at the farmer's market in the park and returned to the bike rack at 1:15 p.m. to lock up a friend's bike. My bicycle was still there at that time, and I noticed a man sitting on the cement berm near the bike rack, smoking. (I suspect now that he was waiting to see if anyone would come to claim the bike, and when we came and left, he knew it was safe to cut the lock--obviously, I didn't think of this at the time). My wife, friend, and I headed over to grab a drink at the Hotel Lincoln. When I returned to the rack around 3:15, my bike was gone, lock cut and left, though my wife and our friend's bike (which were both secured with a U-lock) were left untouched. Anyone reading this, I would suggest not using that bike ramp. In retrospect, I realize how sheltered it is from notice and how easy it is to steal a bike locked up there (a lesson underscored by the fact that mine was stolen within a two hour period in the middle of a Saturday with a number of random people using the park). Also, use U-locks as I should have!!!

This bike was one of 2 kids bikes parked on my front porch as of 4pm, and at 6pm, we discovered they were gone.

This was one of two bikes, each belonging to my kids, that were on our front porch. We know the bikes were there at about 4pm, and at 6pm, we discovered they were gone.

I was at dinner at a sushi place across the street form where the bike was locked. I came out to find my helmet, which was threaded through the lock, and my cut lock sitting in front of where I locked my bike. The bike was gone. A note was left saying someone took the bike.

Bike was lock outside apartment building for about 2.5 hours. During that time it was completely stripped for parts.

I last noticed the bike locked where I had left it around 10pm. I came back at 1am to retrieve the bike and it was gone. It was located just north of Woodie's bar on Wells Street in Old town, south of North Avenue, outside State Street Barbers.

The bike was in my kitchen. Back sliding glass door was unlocked. at around 2:00 am I found the bike missing and the back door open.

I locked my bike to a bike rack on the side of the building. I locked the bike with a U-lock through the front wheel and through the frame. When I woke up this morning, the bike was missing and half of the lock was sheared off. There were many other bikes at the same location.

The bike was in the back by the back door. The gate that leads to alley was secure and tall but they somehow managed to jump the fence and open gate to exit.

Bike was in my apartment building's shared laundry room/bike storage room. A key is required to enter the courtyard and the laundry room. I left it at around 4:30 PM on Wednesday, July 8 (2015), and found it missing at 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 9. I must have forgotten to lock it (I never forget--until then anyway). Thief ripped off the crate sitting on back rack and left it at scene with helmet and closed U-lock.

Some jerk stole my bicycle off of my front porch near Damen and Erie. It was purposefully the most unappealing, total utilitarian beater of a bike and someone hopped my locked fence and stole my locked bike off my front porch.

Classic Schwinn Cruiser blue bike with white inner tires, streamers, bell, and big seat. Locked at designated/covered bike rack at the Clybourn Metra stop (Armitage & Ashland). Locked at 6:30am July 8th. Found stolen at 6:30am July 9th.

Bike was locked with another bike to a bike rack in front of the Art Institue of Chicago.

Locked this bike plus another in front of the Art Institute of Chicago to a bike rack. Came out 2 hr later and it was gone. Very public spot but no cameras and no security guard.
