Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was locked with a U-lock through a pair of I-bolts in the wooden post that supports the back porch. Thief entered fenced back yard via unknown means and apparently pulled the I-bolts out of the post, and disappeared with bike, lock and I-bolts.

Gained access to basement without force, probably spare keys hid outside by neighbors. Other items stolen from basement as well. Basement had both pad lock + deadbolt, but neither had been damaged.

Was last ridden 12/10/15. Discovered it missing on 12/22/15. The bike room is only accessible via a key fob for building residents. I am awaiting the surveillance video from my building so I can pinpoint when and by whom it was stolen. Will update. Was also stolen with a brand new, matte white, Louis Garneau helmet.

Bike was placed outside on Dec 12th on the back porch of our apartment. Hadn't realized the bike was missing until Dec 20 2015 as only been coming through the front door for the whole week. Gate in the back of the apartment complex may have been open as it seizes up when cold outside. Reported to property management group.

The bike had been locked in our back passageway. It was last seen about 2 weeks ago. I was stolen some time between then and now.

Not sure when it was stolen - I last rode it last week but haven't been down in the storage room since. It was stolen from my building's laundry room.

Leaving the house at 12pm on Monday, I notice my bike missing. It was locked to my metal front gate on the side of the building the night before. I had an Abus Granit Futura Mini U-Lock, which I used to lock my back wheel and my frame to the metal fence, and was also stolen with the bike. There did not seem to be any aggressive marks on the fence around where my bike was locked, and no evidence was left of tools used. I used Pinhead locking nuts to secure my front wheel, my stem, and my seatpost.

The actual date of incident is questionable but most likely within the last week. The bike was left where i normally leave it on my back porch and may or may not have been locked at the time. One thing is for sure though that the lock is missing along with the bike so i assume it may have been locked to itself. There is no sign of struggle or any remaining debris from a lock breaking.

My bike was kept in the basement bike room/laundry room of my locked apartment building with many other bikes. It was locked via a cable lock that was cut with what appears to be wire cutters and left at the scene. It either had to have been an unlawful entrance into the building (perhaps they followed someone with a key in), a current resident of the building, or a friend of a current resident.

Other resident left our private garage open to alleyway for less than one hour by negligence. The bicycle in question was removed from the garage within said period.

Sign removed from pole, bike lifted up and over assume-

Brand new road bike purchased just the day before as a gift. In a rush to bike to work earlier today and cannot say 100% if lock was properly in place. I locked bike through frame and front wheel to isolated bike rack that was in front of hospital entrance. Finished my shift and went outside to find only the lock remaining to the bike rack. This was a wonderful gift bought by my gf for xmas/bday and I was only able to ride it once. If there is any way for this bike to return to me it would mean the world.

My bike was stored in a locked gate back yard under a the porch staircase of the coach house on the property, not visible from outside the yard due to the houses blocking it from both sides of the street and the fences around the yard. Then someone stole it.

The thief unbolted the base of the sign post and slid the locked bike off of the pole.

Bike was stollen from the condo garage, which is a communal garage for 4 units.

Bike was inside a locked entryway on the first floor of the apartment building. The door locks by itself so not sure how it was taken. Last time seen around 12:30pm, realized it was missing at 4pm.

I ran the cable through both wheels and the corner post for the metal fence in front of Golden Nugget Pancake House at Diversey and Pulaski. The restaurant was more busy than normal because it was Thanksgiving Eve. I thought," who would steal a bike here?" So I did not lock up the front or back wheels w/ the 2 U-locks that I had w/ me.

It appears the lock was cut or disabled and removed with the bike entirely. There is no sign of the bike or lock where it was locked up. Talked with building security and there is no security camera on that exposure. Area is high traffic (major metropolitan area with busy bus stop) so I'm not sure how it was made away with.
