Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike has been locked in to a bike rack for 3.5 years in apartment building basement. Noticed bike was gone 2/4/2023. Management company has been threating to remove unregistered bikes. However, bike had current registration with building. Building manager said no bikes had been removed but denied access to camera footage.

Discovered bike missing on Saturday morning (Feb 4). The chain I used to lock it was intact and still locked on the fence with no signs of tampering. Fence appeared intact as well. Multiple other bikes locked along the same fence were still there.

Came out to the garage to go to work this morning and noticed neighbor did not close our shared garage and the my bike and husband's bike was stolen.

Went to go to work this morning and noticed my neighbor left out garage door open and my wife and my bikes were gone.

Bike was stolen from inside locked apartment building. None of the tenants in the building heard or saw anything suspicious. The handyman was also very confused because he said people have kept bikes there for years and none have been stolen.

I was gone from 2:45-5:15 pm today. Bike was stolen sometime in that time, ALONG WITH my roommate's Diamondback Vital 2 women's hybrid (which was in same spot). Another bike there with flat tires was left. I asked the rest of the tenants in the building and none of them heard or saw anything suspicious. The handyman was also very confused because he said people have kept bikes there for years and none have been stolen.

Informed by apartment complex management that CCTV footage showed someone entering the secure bike room and cutting the Kryptonite lock with an angle grinder. Still not sure when the theft actually occurred.

Bike was kept in a shared storage/laundry room for over a year and a half. Some cleaners had temporary access to this building, including the bike room, and the bikes disappeared during that timeframe. Both my bike and my husband's e-bike (black Ride1Up Roadster) were taken out of the building's storage room.

This bike was one of four bikes stolen from the shared storage in the basement of our building. Looks like the person had a key to the building and stole the bikes along with all of the other valuables down there. None of the bikes were locked because there is no rack to lock them to in the basement and we thought it was secure.

Man broke into garage and took bike

I went to check my bike and it was gone. My apartment refuses to find any footage of my stolen bike. I looked everywhere and so did my apartment. My apartment told me to contact my renters insurance and my renters insurance told me to file a police report.

Came outside to see bike and locks were gone without a trace.

The bike was located in the lobby of my walk up apartment. I didn't have it locked b/c I have 4 other neighbors who I've met and trusted.

Bike (along with three other bikes) were stolen from a locked shared basement. Basement was locked with padlock. Bikes were not locked because there was nothing to secure them to. Taken overnight. This bike was very important to me.

Locked up my bike when I got to work (I’m a resident at northwestern memorial hospital), at the end of my day I walked out and there was no bike at the rack.

Bike stolen from locked storage room in basement. Bike was not locked, but in a locked room. The lock was ripped off the door.

Bike was missing from 3rd floor porch with broken balcony.
