Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen from my usual parking location outside of my apartment building. I had been locking it to the same tree for over 10 months. The tree was not damaged. Many bikes were also parked around it but none were stolen. I saw it around 9pm the night before and found it missing around 7am on 5/13.

Bike was secured to a (sign) pole to it bike frame. (newer u-lock w/flat key). Thief unscrewed pole at base, lifted up and bike was immediaely taken - with lock on main frame of bike. Screws/Bolts from pole were lying on ground. Witnesses saw the pole being compromised and did not know what was happening. Thief took off with bike. (NOTE: The attached picture is what my bike roughly looks like...similar color scheme..grey/black lines.)

I live on a street that a lot of Northern Arizona College students park their cars on and it was the end of the semester. I feel like someone had an eye on my vintage cruiser and decided to take it with them when they left school and returned home. It isn't a terrible neighborhood but it is a little hood. The bike was so unique I doubt anyone will try to ride it in flagstaff because it was rather identifiable. There were reflectors on every spoke on the front wheel and the back wheel had orange tape and black and white streamers woven through the spokes. It was my moms bike that she rode when she was in highschool and is very sentimental.

Bike was kept, unlocked, in a rented residential garage. When returning from work this evening, bike was noted to be missing. There was no evidence of a break in into the garage.

It was stored in the locked laundry room of my apartment building. It was gone when I checked the following afternoon. There were no lock fragments at the scene.

The bike (Trek Fitness FX 7.2) was parked on the sidewalk on Dearborne in between W Wacker and Lake. It was locked to the bike rack. I locked it at 6:45AM and it was gone by 7PM.

Waiting for storage locker to be ready. Locked my bike with every lock I had to a bike rack (3 large cable locks). Stolen during the day no less than 12hrs.

This was an enclosed back stairwell/porch. I have a heavy duty shelving unit (made of thick steel) out there with boxes and such. Two bikes were attached to the unit and both were stolen. I think one of my neighbors could be the culprit because it seems weird that someone would actually enter the building to steal these from the second floor.

I'm quite perplexed at this because I live on the second floor and while my building is close to a busy street and the back door to the building is by a bank parking lot (empty at night), I find it hard to believe someone would enter just to steal these two bikes when there are many bikes much more easily stolen on the side streets all around here. I wonder if it could have been one of my neighbors.

I left the bike here for a while, while I was out of Chicago. I returned and it was gone. The intersection is now a construction site.

I kept my bike in a key locked bike storage room in the building. My bike was hanging on a hook with a cable running trough the wheel around the frame and then down to my mountain bike and bike pump. I entered the room on the first and the road bike was missing but the mountain bike and pump were secured to the chain with the lock. I checked with the building to see if the bike was replaced or moved to another area since people were in there placing red removal stickers on bikes. The building denied any bikes have been moved. I am unable to open the current lock on the mountain bike as it looks like the lock was replaced.

Bike was taken. But U-lock was left locked and looks fine. I'm not sure if they took apart the bike or had a key to this lock type? Very strange. It was taken in daylight in front of a busy gym and on a busy street.

Out with friends for cinco de mayo. we were all on bikes. we came back and only mine out of three was stolen. boo

Bike was left on back porch over night. Someone must have entered the gated yard in order to take the bike.

Stolen off a set of bike racks on the quad at the University of Chicago, a couple hundred feet in from the intersection of 57th street and University Ave. I locked it there at about noon, discovered it missing at 4:45 pm.
