Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike along with several other road bikes (probably 5-6) were stolen from our apartment's locked bike storage room. I suspect that someone moving out, or some movers with a truck took the bikes.

Bike was left locked to a bike rack with many other bikes. The rack is right outside Mertz Hall on the Lakeshore Campus of Loyola University Chicago. While I was at work that evening, someone probably cut the combination cord lock and took the bike. The coloring and shape draws the eye and the bike is less than a year old and very clean.

Someone walked up and stole it.

Bike was removed from the deck railing to which it was locked, inside a locked courtyard under camera surveillance.

Lock was either cut with bolt cutters or picked. Lock and bike were gone when i got back to it.

Bike was taken from the #9 ashland bus, going northbound between Grand an Armitage ave. Bike was taken OFF the bus while I was still on the bus. I did not see the person who took the bike.

I came home in the morning and was in the garage along with my neighbor who I share the garage with. He was going to leave so I didn't wait for him to close the door, I thought he was going to do it. Later I found out he didn't close it and the garage door had been left open from about 8:30 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. I came home in the evening and noticed my bike was not in the garage. Later I asked my neighbor if he left the door open.

I assume that someone came up to my bike, cut the cable and then left.

Was locked to railing inside locked back area of apartment.

Stolen Bicycle locked to wooden fence in a side passage locked at both ends. They kicked the wooden fence apart to remove the bicycle, with the lock still on the bicycle.

Bike was locked up in front of UIC's architecture building at 5pm. When I returned at 10pm it was gone.

The bicycle thief broke the kryptonite lock (newer u-lock w/flat key) and the iron fence the bike was attached to, in addition to cutting the fence with a hacksaw (although he didn't cut all the way through). The bike was also on the inside of the fence, so the thief must of had to either lift the bike over the 5.5 foot fence, or walk it out of the enclosed fence. The bike was stolen in front of my 2 flat apartment on Friday the 13th, sometime in the evening.

Several bikes have been stolen in the same basement in the last few weeks.

Front tire had Pinhead locked skewer. Rear tire was locked through frame to bike lock. Busy area. Several bikes near it.

Lock was picked and bike stolen, lock is also missing.

The bikes were stolen. like a snatch and grab, no witness and in front of a public place

The bike was taken from my apartment between 5-7am. Someone walked into the apartment took the bike and walked out. The door was unlocked. My roommate may have left the door unlocked. They didn't take anything else, but the bike.

I came home and went to the basement to open the door to the storage area on April 9th around 7 p.m. The door handle had been manipulated and the door was completely open. Of about 6 storage areas, mine was the only one where they had used a hammer or some other tool to smash the whole lock off the door. They stole 2 bikes-mine and my boyfriends Giant STP custom built bike with golden handlebars and pedals. The bikes were not locked to anything inside of the storage unit.

My bike was locked to a chain-linked fence in the backyard of my apartment with a U-lock. The fence was cut around my lock and my bike and lock are both missing. I've locked it here daily for almost 2 years, typically I lock it to the fence and the fence post but I was lazy through the winter was only using the fence itself. It is a great bike and my only mode of transportation. It is really dirty and beat up right now because I haven't tuned it up since winter riding. Please, if you see my bike, let me know.

My bike was in a locked basement of a 2 unit dwelling in a locked yard. In the 45 minutes between when my boyfriend took his bike out to run an errand and returned, the neighbor decided to do laundry and left the basement unlocked and 3 bikes were stollen, mine, an adult mountain bike (yellow Gary Fisher) and a child's bike. Four other bikes were left alone. The yard has a very tall fence with locks on both the street and alley side. The thief entered through one and had to cross the back yard to get to the rear facing, relatively obscured, basement door and somehow make off with 3 bikes of widely varying sizes. I can't imagine that both my bike (a small women's bike with clipless pedals), an adult men's mountain bike, and a child's bike were all ridden off from the scene.
